I put together a Herr Lil Extra and want to make the OS .10 go faster. I have an 8x4 prop on now and using 15% nitro fuel. How can I make it go faster?

About a year or so ago, there was a thread either here or in the glow engines forum about getting more out of a stock OS 10FP. They did things like reshaping the port in the crankshaft with JB Weld, grinding the crankshaft where the mixture enters the crankcase, machining the head and a few other little tweaks. They managed to get quite an increase in performance. Search it out, it should give you the answers you are looking for.

I have wondered about port work on these. It works wonders on my buggie engines, I wonder if it would benefit these at all? I used a 15 in mine also.....plenty of power for 5 bucks more.

First of all, drop down to a 7x4. That will up the rpms a bit.

The power they make is in proportion to a LA .15, .25, .40, etc. The biggest gain I've seen with a LA .40 is with a mouse can pipe, I suspect that would be time well spent looking for that kind of boost for your .10. Get a baseline figure with open exhaust and make that your target rpm
The .10s I've run seem lazy with 8 inch props, a 7x3 will allow it to wind out better and give decent throttle response.
If you are willing to gamble with porting, use a CV .15 or .32 SX as an example of what works.

I guess dropping down to a 7/4 or 7/3 is the first order of business. What's a "Mouse can pipe"?

Gee, my hair's getting a bit thin anyway. Maybe some mousse would be a good idea, although I prefer the chocolate variety

How about trying a diesel conversion? A Davis head is like bolt on power, except instead of needing to port and polish for better flow and going to an inch smaller prop for more RPM you go to an inch bigger (and perhaps add a bit more pitch) for the prop to use the greater torque for more thrust.

Where does one buy one of those heads? And what fuel after?

Once the word gets out that diesels are more powerful than glow, it will revolutionize R/C pylon racing, R/C pattern, C/L speed, R/C combat, C/L stunt and C/L combat.

I did a search and only came up with Davis as the supplier. Is there another I don't see?

Haha, yes the diesel are a bit new and the word hasn't really gone out yet. Any day soon the CS diesels will rule the world...

I have an MVVS diesel (RC) in a box waiting for the odd chance of finding some fuel for it...
