Hello,
I am making the switch from 72mhz to 2.4 Ghz, and could use some help. I picked up a Spek Dx6i that comes with an AR6200 RX. Unfortunately I think the 6200 is a bit big and heavy fro my alfa f86, so I am going to toss it in an eflite ultimate where there is a little more room. But now I need an RX for my f86, but I'm not sure which one to get. I know some models had issues and others didn't. Which Spektrum RX's were having the brown out/reboot issues? Have the problems been corrected or do I still need to worry about it?

thanks

I've been reading more and more on the spektrum RX's. It sounds like a lot of people are saying the 6100's are junk and that you are better off going with a 6000 or 6200. Is this true?

6000 is for park fly only, and i think the 6100 is also classed as park fly

i've not had any problems with 6200 (4) or the 6100 (2)

Question: does the 6200 function without the remote module, and if so, does it significantly affect range and reliability?

Thanks for the info. I think I want to put the 6200 on my f86, but I just don't know where I am going to put it all.

No.

The satellite rx is what makes it a full range rx suitable for use in any model. Not having a satellite rx is what limits the old 6000's and the new 6100's to Park Flyer use.

There is a safety protocol on all the rx's equiped with satellites where if one becomes disconnected while in operation, it will continue to operate until it's shut down but will not link on powerup without the satellite rx plugged in.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll have to figure out a way to squeeze the whole thing on my f86 as I fly it high and far away.

I still need to pick an RX for my ultimate. I've read a few reports that the 6000 has better range than the 6100, is this true? Which would you pick between the two?

Take a breath
here is a rule of thumb:
the 6100 is a simple rx designed specifically for small slow ,light models -such as indoor flyers and say 16 ounce or under foamy outdoor flyers which, are typically flown at a few hundred feet or less
They will -in some cases fly further out - but it is NOT within the design intentions .
WHY?
because it has a slow reset time and reception is limited to the one antenna set.
The brown out thing was the first model and only those guys who did not understand power needs had these problems - the ovewhelming majority had zero problems.
So the RX with satellite rx (s)are long range, quick reset designs
the little 6200 is a great setup -tiny but full range and quick reset.
for bigger models where the chance of internal structure /components of the model may block signals - larger rx with more rx are available for BIG models where servos really need lotsa power - the direct battery to rx rx are available

simple answer - tiny rx for tiny planes - big rx for big planes .
That's what makes the DX2 systems so popular - you can select a system which is right for any size model
The "one size fits all "premise is nice but if yoo check out the in use types you will see which have proven to be most popular.
Just use a rx specific to your needs . As for 6000- 6100 comparisons - tough call -I had early on 6000 setup (the first DX6 setups excellent - no problems whatsoever.
But then - I got same results with the 6100 when I got the DX7 system

Thanks for the great info. I shouldn't have to worry about brown-outs at all as I am only running 3 submicros so my servos are drawing very little current. It sounds like the 6200 in the f86 and either a 6000 or 6100 in the bipe should work just fine for me.

No. The 6000 and 6100 are for park flyer models while the 6200 with it's satellite receiver is full range.

My son has a Mini UltraStick with a 6100. He's flown that out to what I would feel is an uncomfortable altitude or range and has solid control.

I've flown the 6200 in a large .46 powered trainer after upgrading from the 72MHz radio. The tiny receiver seems lost in the cavernous cabin when compared to a much larger 72Mhz RX. I have a 2nd 6200 which will be going into a Saito 100 powered Sig 4*60. For my 7 servo UltraStick 40, I chose the 9 channel AR9000 RX.

One reason I chose Spektrum over Futaba is the much broader range of receivers. It also didn't hurt that Horizon had their Great Giveaway even earlier this year.
