They seem to have a different head on them rather than the traditional hex head. What type of screwdriver do i need to take it off? thx

The cylinder head is held on with regular metric hex bolts. Use a good, sharp 2.5 mm hex key to remove the bolts. If a cheap key, or a dull one is used, you can strip the head of the bolts. Then you'll need to drill them out.

O.S. does NOT use "security" screws. If they look like that, then their heads have been stripped. You'll need to drill them off if you cannot get them off with a good, sharp hex key. If you got the engine used, then the previous owner may have replaced the head bolts.
