Rs4 problem

hey guys

I bought a used car today

it's a Rs4 3 from Hpi im pretty sure

it's not the one driven by belt but more with a drive shaft

Im having Few issues

First off
I just noticed the car seems alot bigger than my last Rs4 i had....+ the suspension is very big ... i don't know why but anyways might be just me.

#1

The front & back wheels seems Crooked not straight at all (and it doesn't have nothing to do with the remote)
nothing seems Broken.

#2
the engine Chokes constantly when i try to stop the car

When i run it Full throttle many smoke comes out (not like normal it's more like big fumes)
and there's no power at all so im guessing there's too much something adding in to the motor

and finally to Start it i have noticed you need to open the air alot + the engine Relys on it the minute you close it it stalls

and the car when idled runs by itself

#3

the on car battery pack section is un accessible.....
I have NO CLUE what the hell happened there but by the look of it i would need to unscrew the whole car to get access......

let me know about that one

i have had a Rs4 earlier last year & this section wasn't the same at all! .

ThankS!!!!

RE: Rs4 problem

Seems like this is an RS4 with a rally conversion. That's why you have bigger shocks, and the tires look like they're for offroad use.
I think the reason you need so much air is because you don't have an air filter...
For the battery pack, if you can't find a way to open it, it's time for replacement. Might I suggest carbon fiber upper deck?

P.S. Do you plan on keeping it rally?

RE: Rs4 problem

If the engine stalls when you hit the brekes its because your throttle stop screw is not set right. You need to turn that in some so that the carb will not close so much when you apply the brakes. The angle on the tires is normal to have some. But your front tires are like pointing opp directions. You can try and adjust the turnbuckles and that should fix that. But you do want them to angle in a little bit thou.

RE: Rs4 problem

Your front tires may have been set like that to help with driving straight at full throttle if the previous owner was racing. Although the toe-out he has seems a bit extreme to me!

RE: Rs4 problem

Thanks i will go try those settings

>about the air filter

I have one i took it out when i took the picture because it all all dirty & drying.

>Do i plan to Keep it rally??

I would of liked a On road car thats it.

>About my wheel:

it's missing a screw under one of them thats why it's crooked , meaning it only holds by the top , not top + bottom

You know the screw with a TORX screw driver hole...

my last concern

Why is the battery pack on the car Physicly un-reachable.....
??
why would someone do that hahahha

that means if i want to change the 4 batterys i need to take the whole car appart
im not even joking..

so where can i find this replacement????

thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

god i love this forum
so much help!!:)

Radio tray

Carbon fiber upper deck

You don't need them both, it's one or the other.

I'm pretty sure it was set up for rally by the former owner because of the wheels and the shocks you mentioned and just the way it looks.
Talk to your LHS and have them help you get the stock or hop up racing parts for the car if you want to make it strictly on-road.
I think the major things you'll want to change first are shocks and getting a front bumper. On-road reaches much higher speeds than a rally course.

RE: Rs4 problem

That looks to me like a Super RS4 Rally.

Yup, that's EXACTLY what it is.

Good luck finding parts!

Also, that car has non-adjustable toe links. He can't adjust them. What he needs are the proper toe links for the Super RS4s, or to retrofit it with adjustable turnbuckles and ball cups. Wish I would've had one of those cars so I'd have a giant pile of parts like I do for everything else I've owned so I could help ya out with it.

Doonagoowin
thanks for the links

Damn it isn't that expensive!
i might try to look for that at my local hobby shop
i will need to disassemble the Whole car i guess to fit that in

but anyways WAY BETTER THAN the junk part i have!:) can't get the batterys out
what were they thinking!!!!

ThunderbirdJunkie :

bullseye!! thats exactly like my car

Motor issues:
I can't figure out what's the problem i guess maybe it's finished....

Because i can't even get it to idle it dies constantly

i always need to prime it more & more to get it started again once it chokes....

DONT EVER BUY A USED CAR UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING!!! lol. you got screwed man. just buy a kit if you are learning. better to learn about RC when u build your own car instead of just taking a car and looking at it and saying what the hell is this?? if you dont know what your doing and planning on doing with your car dont get a used one...

RE: Rs4 problem

Uh with the links, it's for the RS4 3 so check to see if it fits your car first.
