Hey guys,

It's time for me to move onto a different charger. I'm sick of waiting 3 hours for my esky lipo to be fully charged. I'd like to getting it down to an hour or so. I've read that the Triton2 is a very good charger. My LHS only stocks the Triton Jr. though & the Astro blinky thing. Would the Triton Jr. work well for me or would I best ordering the Triton2 charger. If the Jr. is plenty adequate for my Esky lipos then I will get it. I just don't want to miss out of important features and wished I go the Triton2 later on down the road.
What do you think?

Thanks.

I use the Jr and love it. But depending on your future use you may want the 2. If you plan to upgrade later to larger batteries the triton 2 would be better than the Jr. You will also need to get a power supply for both so plan that in the budget. Just my 2 cents.

Hey, I really appreciate your input on my topic here. In the future I will probably only go as big as a Trex 450 with a max of 2200maH battery. So will the Jr. still be good enough fo that battery. Also, what are your charge times for the average 11.1 - 1800maH battery? That's the main reason I want to upgrade, to decrease charge times.

Thank you.

The JR is fine for any 3S batteries. The 2 does up to 4S but if you don't need that then don't bother. Otherwise they are very similar chargers.

Another one worth looking at is the Cellpro 4s. Great charger for the money and it balances to.

Hey guys thanks for the comments. My LHS has the Jr. in stock so that's why i'm most interested in it because then I could have it right away and not have to order anything. I will never go higher than a 3s battery. The 3s batteries are high enough $$$. Once I master the Belt CP, then I will go for looks and get and Trex 450.

Q? They are all out of stock on the Great Planes Equinox balancers. Will the Astro blinky devices that they have work just fine for balancing? Also, what can I expect for charge times on the average for the stock 11.1v 1800mah LIPO. The Esky LIPO says not to go over 1amp charge rate. The stock charge looks like it says .8amps. So if that's the case, how will this new Triton Jr. cut my charge times down?

Thank you.

Well I read some really good reviews on the Cellpro 4s. Better reviews on it than the triton jr. The original place that I got my belt cp, Ka-planes has them. I'm going to go that route and get 2 extra batteries while i'm at it. I still have the question of charge times for you people. If you're only supposed to charge these batteries @ a max of 1C, how do you get any better charge times than the stock charger. I was hoping for charge times of 1.5 hrs. Is that even possible, or am I still looking at 3+ hours with the Cellpro 4s.

Thanks.

Well I ordered the Cellpro 4s yesterday from the same place i got my belt cp from. Still waiting to hear from someone on what the typical charge times are for these aftermarket chargers.

Depends on the battery size and it condition of discharge. 2100s take about 40 minutes or so on the 4s, the smaller the battery the less time to charge. Someplace there is a calc on charge times I will have to see if I can find it. Depends on the safe charge rate of the battery. I usually charge at 1C which is safe for most battery the 4s can charge up to 3amp believe but you asking to start a fire on charging that fast on just about anything that is not A123 chemistry.

Hey thanks for answering my question. For a moment there, I didn't think anyone used aftermarket chargers. I have the stock 1800mah battery and I just ordered a 2100mah batt. I will love those charge times. I can only get 2 flights in a day and that's if I fly once when I come home for lunch and then take my battery with me to work to charge there so I can fly when I'm done with work By the way, ordered it from ka-planes.com Have had good luck with them in the past.

A lot of ppl use aftermarket chargers... anyone serious will anyway.

I have 3 chargers and all are after market, I don't use stock chargers for anything. TP 1010C, TP 610C and Triton2.

Hi Druss, how you doing. I almost bought the TP-610c because of you and the good things you've posted about it. I liked the fact that the Cellpro 4s has built in balancing. Over the weekend I almost ordered the Triton2 from tower hobbies but I think they were out of the Equinox balancer so I didn't order that. Guess it really didn't matter to me what brand/model. Just as long as it can charge my Esky & Eflite lipos safely & quicker than the stock chargers.
