I was running my buggy the other day, and the engine died (Kyosho GXR28). When i looked at the car i found that the air filter had fallen off. Now the engine starts and revs up without any problems, but the minute i let go off the throttle and the revs drop, the engine dies.

Does dirt in the engine (scratched internals) do that?

I still can get the car to drive just as fast but it just dies at idle.

I changed the carb settings, even put on another carb from another gxr i have...but still same problem.

Its driving me nuts!

The engine has about 2 gallons and has been very good to me...consistent and minimal tuning required.

thanks

I'm having that same problem. Going from full throttle or even half throttle to braking will make my engine die.
No sounds like bogging right? Just turns off with no weird sounds... I need help on this too.

When your cant get your engine to idle properly no matter what you try is normally the first sign that your piston and liner are worn out. Firstly if it has been dusted pull it out and strip it. Clean and inspect all the parts. Check to see how far you can push the piston up inside the liner. You should feel it getting tight around the top 1/3 or top 1/4 of the liner. If you can push it all the way to the top its fime for a new one.

If you have dusted your engine dirt get everywhere insideand causes. Bearings, Piston and liner, conrod bushing, inlet port on crankshaft and case. Normally if there is too much wear on these its cheaper to consider a new engine. DIRT IS THE ENEMY

well i changed the clutch and still the engine won't idle

I played around with the carb settings n that didn't fix it.

The thing thats driving me mad is that the engine is still really really fast when i hit the throttle...the top end hasn't changed a bit...just the idle isn't happening.

Is this definitely a sign that the engine had dirt in it?

I had the same issue and it turns out that I just had to tighten the throttle arm. Take a look at it, make sure it's tight.

you need to tear your engine down and clean it up running these little nitro engines with out the air filter is very bad for it and it don't take much dirt to tear one up.
