Hi All

Really stupid question on my charger: I just received my new charger I got from LightflightRC (Great service and prices btw! - Thanks Dave!!). The charger is a Chargery 1010B Balance charger http://www.chargery.com/1010B.asp that seems to have got great reviews around the forums.

Anyway, I also picked up some TP V2 Extremes and yesterday soldered on my Deans connectors for them. I previously was using my standard Esky charger, charging via the JST connector.

This is my 1st balance charger and I don't know how the hell to charge the batteries through it. It does come with the breakout board (balance connector board)for the different connectors, but it seems this is only used for balancing. Do I need to charge via the Deans connector and have the balance connector connected at the same time for balancing, or can I charge via the Thunderpower plug connected to the balance connector board. I do not have a connector that has banana jacks on one end and a Deans on the other (but I suppose I could cut off the alligator clips and solder on a Deans instead. Is this what I need in order to charge??

reading thru the advertising material...
The charger is capable of balancing and charging at the same time.
the breakout board is used for the dif configurations and wiring diff on the diff batteries (battery balance conn are not standardized).
You will need a power suppy sufficent for about 5 amp and 12 volt (DO NOT USE A AUTO BATTERY CHARGER!).
Power supplys are avail at most electrical supply houses or LHS. Same power supplys are often used by shops to power auto steros on the bench for trouble shooting etc.
Yes cut off the allagtor clips and solder on some black and red bannana plugs for your power supply.
Myself I balance my batteries before I put them on charge, only takes a few min to balance them.
I have a diff system for charging and balanceing however many of us instead of using a breakout board change the order of the small connectors in the balance plug on the battery to match a single connector that goes to the balancer port on the balancer or charger/ balancer. You whave to watch where the ground is located in relation to the other wires and which wires are to which cells when you do this.
Your actually charging is done through the 2 big red and black wires not the balancer connector.(the esky charger balances and charges through the balance plug along with a few others work this way)
Hope this helped you a little.

Thanks Fun!

I do have the power supply as well for the charger http://www.chargery.com/a20.asp- what I was confused about was how to connect up the battery for charging.

Do I have to solder a deans connector instead of the alligator clips? There are banana jacks on the other end that I'm assuming will go to the output of the charger?
