Hello to all! Anyone have any experience with inverting a Du-bro fuel tank? I need to get the hole of the tank below the Saito 4 stroke carb. The tank has that protruding end on it to protect the fuel lines. On possible solution I'm thinking of.

Richard

Actually what you need to do is get the center of the tank below the center of the spray bar in the carb.

And if I cant, will a pump compensate?

If it's even close, it should be fine. And even if it's well above the carb level, the only problem will be a tendency for fuel to drain when the engine's not yet running. Once it's running, it's fine. If you find fuel pooling in the carb before you can start the engine, then you can use a clamp on the fuel line until just prior to starting.

The fuel tank on my EIII (using a Magnum 52 FS) was at least an inch, if not two inches, above the carb.

Thanks abufletcher. I feel better knowing I'm not going to cause major problems by installing a 4 srtoke. I appreciate the help.

Asside from that, would a pump help the engine run better?

You will not need a pump with a Saito and are better off without one. Something else to mess with. I highly recommend an onboard glow driver though. The plug is hard to get to on those and it really helps to maintain a low idle. I have one on my 1\$ scale tripe with Saito 180 and love it. Maybe checkout Sullivans new one. Use plenty of battery also. Those things need a lot or will run out quickly.

Depending on the nature of the scale installation getting the glow starter on the plug can be difficult (since the plug sits at an angle) on Saito engines. On the other hand, in my experience Saito engines idle really REALLY well (sometimes down to 1800) so I don't think the onboard glow is necessary for that reason. I did put a glow plug "extender" in my Flair Legionaire (with its Saito 56) so that I could plug the starter in at the cockpit location.
