Hey foot,

Where in NC? I can't even imagine how fast that thing is now you saw my other post. I'm not even broke in good yet and mine is screaming with no mod. I guess its so fast it scared the cat out the window LMAO.

Not trying to "burst your bobble" here, but from what I see in those pictures I can't believe that engine is still even running. You got kind of crazy on the cutting and probably started even having a negative affect on the engine.

FYI, timing is where the real power comes from. There's little to no power gains from "porting" an engine. Spend about an hour or two in the "nitro car engine" forum reading the post that come up when you search for "modding" and you'll learn a lot.

By the way cutting to much off the crank will cause the crank to vibrate more then before and will cause bearings to fail.

thanks for the input it does still run and its really fast but i know i will here things that are not good because it is radical and i do thank whoever says anything good or bad its all part of learning.

I am going to start by saying, that I am not a professional RC engine modifier. That is why I put these pitures on here to see what other modifiers think. However I am a professional ATV/Dirt bike engine modifier. That being said and you have seen the pictures, heres the theory behind what I did. Engine are all basically the same 2 stroke or four stroke, their basically air pumps, the more air/fuel they can take in and exhaust the faster they run. I agree that power gains can be seen from engine timing changes however it stands to reason that by opening up the crank, intake plus exhaust ports will allow more fuel air mixture into the engine and more exhaust to escape. I understand the point of the crank vibrating, but nitro engines do not have a counter balancing system in place. The perfect situation would be if the piston and connecting rod weighed exactly the same as the rotating bell on the crank then the piston and rod would act as a counter balancer for the engine. These are my thoughts curious to hear if anyone agrees. Thanks

Now i could be wrong but i don't see how they can be on larger 2stroke moters they have what is know as a counter balancer its gear driven and works from the crank so when the cranks heavest part is at the top the balancer is at the bottom the only thing to off set a crank in an rc motor is the weight of the piston so here again i might be wrong so that is why i started this to hear from other modders not to get there secrets but to see if what i did was crazy. So we will see i do no that this engine screams

Like I said before search this thread http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/tt.asp?forumid=269 for "modding" and you will learn a lot. Also from what I know you can't balance a single cylinder engine.

You don't want to cut the trailing edge of the counter weigh. I could keep posting but all of this as already been gone over many of times. Its amazing what you can learn by searching. With that being said I'm not going to post here again as I would really be wasting my time.

Cutting to much away can make the engine run worse. Look at the pro modders (the good ones not the want to be's) like Ab mods, and Eb mods they don't cut that much away on their sleeves and both of them have X-dyno's to test their engines to see what their mods did, so I think there is a reason why.

I said "not trying to burst your bubble here"

anyways here's some pictures of my work (they're not really the way I want them. Really need to get some better cutters )

That engine does have timing mods done to it. (which after wards I did find out the way I cut the timing on those ports where wrong)

dont be so hard on him dude! he is here just to ask opinions and tips ! actually i think it would be fun to try out a few things!im thinkin about taking an old 8+ gallon 3 port novarossi i have laying around and cutting some small turbo scoops into the intake ports just to see what i will do! and if its bad not to much harm will be done!

i commend you for just trying somethin new and havin fun with it mrfoot!
