the electronics are the cheapest parts. dont expect to be able to put much better battery on it without the motor or esc frying. i have a heng long mad truck, simillar quality i think. the stock rims broke, the motor fried. i have put diff tires on it and a Brushless system. not sure how long the gears will last with that much power.

the alum parts on them look nice, but are made of low quality "soft" alum. it can bend in a impact. the motors are decent, but wont last as long as name brands. that said, they can still be fun for the money. if you have problems with it tho, dont turn away from RC. just realize you got what you paid for. RC is just like any hobby, it aint cheap. id look for a used nitro from a major brand. can be found for 100-150. still taking a chance, but at least there will be good parts support,as well as aftermarket parts to upgrade.

If you are going to try a cheaper nitro rc then look at Himoto. I have had 3 of the cheaper nitro trucks and have had good luck with all of them adn all of them with a few gallons on them. Only reason for buying them was to see if my kids would like rc. No point in buying a high dollar rc if they are not going to like it. They served thier purpose and were decent for the money. Now they drive savages and Hotbodies and couldnt be happier. Just make sure you go over the whole truck before you run it. There are plenty of places to get parts from online. For the price they are not that bad and you can learn alot from them.

You can get a MGT super cheap from ebay right now. They are going for less than 200 for a complete setup. Even a heavily used MGT is better than a new chinese truck anyday. I have seen at least 10-12 mgt this past week go for less than 200 and all looked really nice.

for $150 get a used nitro or electric.
But also note that nitro prices are SKYROCKETING!!!! I was at my LHS and 30% nitro fuel was $50!!!!

man, i think your LHS is upping the price cause they feel they can. they figure people will assume its cause regular gas is going up, why wouldnt nitro. but every where iv looked nitro is the same price its been for along time...$15-$25 a gallon.

The prices of nitro at my local shop has not budged. Still 18.00 a gal for race blend sidewinder, 20.99 for nitrotane, 24.99 for odonnells.
