I have a question about the glow plug for the F4.6 engine. My LHS sold me a McCoy MC-8 as a replacement plug. I notice on tower they call it a "standard long plug." Other "long plugs," such as the OS LC3 and LC4 claim they are for the traxxas motors. In fact, I notice most "standard long" plugs say they're for the traxxas motor. While reading the savage manual, I find no mention of running a "standard long" plug in the motor, although when I pull out the stock plug for inspection, it is clearly longer than my OS A3 and the Tower Hobbies plugs I run in my stadium truck. That said, I also see OS #8 "long plugs."

My question is, what is the difference between "sandard," "standard long," and "long" plugs (not counting turbo plugs here.. just "normal" ones). Will my "tower power" plugs run in the savage? Do the length of plugs just determine compression? I assume I could run a shorter one in the savage.. but would a "standard long" in my sadium truck increase compression without having the plug hit the piston?

I just think it interesting that the Savage manual does not mention it needs a "standard long" plug.
