Status: offline 		Some pics of my homemade car,I let them speak for themself!Quote the pic(s) and ask/comment if theres something you want to ask about.I started building this a couple of years ago,soon finished with it.Have tried different things during the buildingprocess,as different engines (both with and without the housing) and brakes,so it might be a little confusing to watch The engine is a Jonsered 44 ccm chainsaw and the gears are FG,the parts are mostly made of myself as frame,steeringparts,brackets and so on.Havent bothered with the suspension as this was supposed to be a fun project,not a serious one

Status: offline 		Have also used a 36 ccm Jonsered engine without the housing,the plan was to use this but it died so I went for the 44 ccm,had to rebuild the engine mounts and crossmember as you will see later.

Status: offline 		Made a killswitch for it too,which goes through the panel between the bonnet and the front window(where its usually placed on the 1/1-scale cars)"På" means on,and "av" means,yeah,you guess The blue wire you can see in the previous posts is the wire from the engine to the switch,and back to the engine.Look closely and you'll see the arm on the switch moves to off-posision when the eccentric wheel on the "key" is turned

Just wondering, did the first chainsaw engine you used ever overheat because of not having the case?

Im working on a similar project, but i keep running into the problem with gears and transmission, where did you get your design?

How much of this stuff had to be machined?

What tools did you use?

No,I dont think so.It never got the time to get hot either I think I made a case for it by using roof gutters and similar stuff(he he)but the engine got very difficult to start,compression was down too.Several hours of work for nothing...Therefore I decided to get a new engine with casing,pull start and everything

Here you can see the bearing on the rear axle!


The design of the "gearbox" popped up in my head,first i was thinking of using chains and sprockets,then i was thinking of using toothed belts and wheels,but found it both very expensive and difficult.Suddenly i thought of my FG Marder,"why cant i use gearwheels like that?" so i ordered some straightaway!I am using 30X10 mm bearings on the axles in the gearboks.Machined it all by myself with a electric jigsaw,drill,hacksaw,file and some other tools.Had to use a lathe on the gearcarrier for the gear on the rearaxle

(I know you mentioned that model of car that you had but am not sure if you meant that those are the exact gears from that)

Status: offline 		Its gears from FG,can be bought at every FG-dealer.I use 20-46-16-48(the two last ones are steel,i stripped the teeth of the plastic ones i had there on the testrun )

When fully applied,its almost impossible to turn the wheels

I still have some creativity left The only drawing i've made for it was the uprights and the clutchbell,too many dimensions to remember A place where i used to work have been so kind to me and let me borrow their lathe,or else this project wouldnt have existed i think.

Status: offline 		Maybe you wanna see the body too,i almost forgot that It is a Ford Capri mk1,i have painted it and made the decals myself.The rims in gold and silver was just a test,but they will stay on for a while I had some wheels lying around,so i thought i could try to paint them.Had to paint them with tires on,therefore its a birough in the edges.I post a pic of the original car too to have something to compare it with

Yeah,i've been told about the NOS-bottle before The bottle was supposed to be the gastank,but since i changed the engine to the latter one i didnt needed it as the tank was integrated in the housing.
