they are a pretty cheap brand. But remember, you get what you pay for. This is a big rule in RC. What is you budget, and do you think he can handle nitro? A gallon of nitro is going up, about $30 a gallon now. And oyu have to know how to tune the engine since those engines are finicky to tune. Maybe get an electric?

ok, then he should be good wit nitro. I would get a used HPI Firestorm or RC10GT2 used off ebay. Those are both quality cars and can be sold on ebay used for cheap. The HPi is more of a basher than a racer, and the gt2 is more of a race than a basher.

Personally I like redcat racing. A bit a ago I bought a tornado bb which is the same buggy your looking at but a different engine and other stuff. It wasn't the best car but they fixed their problems so now they're good little cars. It was my first nitro and since I got the older version it broke a lot (my fault though) so I learned a lot in parts and what they do and how stuff gets put together. I could put that car together from just parts in about a hour or so. Before clutch springs were known to break during breakin so you bought good ones and replaced them before you did anything. The reason my car screwed up is I never replaced the spring so I never could fully break in my engine or tune it so it's dead as far as I know.

I would definately suggest it since it's his first nitro and they fixed all their problems. Now they are great little cars. Also your lhs may not carry parts and a good realiable dealer i know you might want to order from if you have to would be www.clermontmotorsports.com or you could order from towerhobbies or other places. But clermont and tower always have fast shipping for me.

You could also ask Your question on the Redcat racing support forum. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/tt.asp?forumid=427

Great car, especially for the money.

Nathan
