Kantina2005,

I use to fly from saltwater in Corpus Christi, Texas. It is possible to fly RC but I learned that careful cleaning and maintenance was a MUST to prevent your aircraft and electronics from deteriorating. If you follow the suggestions listed, you will be okay.

1. After flying for the day, immediately remove the battery and the receiver.
2. Reassemble the aircraft and rinse your aircraft with freshwater to remove any salt water. A water spray bottle is not enough. I used a large gallon milk jug full of water and used half a gallon on top and the other half on the bottom. Do not get water into the electric motor.
3. If your aircraft flight control hinges has metal hinge pins, lubricate them with a good (thin) machine lubricate. This includes any clevises, control horns and metal screws. If you skip this step, they will rust or corrode.
4. Use a high quality electrical cleaner/lubricant and spray your electric motor inside and outside. Also spray any plugs used to connect your battery and spray your servo wire connectors. In aviation, we use LPS electro cleaner because it does not affect plastics or rubber. I have provided a link to the specifications for this product. Whatever product you use, make sure it is plastic and rubber safe. http://www.sunbeltindustrial.com/product.asp?CID=27&PID=6920
5. Use the same electrical cleaner and spray your receiver casing and plugs.

It only takes a few minutes to do all this and I have never had a corrosion problem since then. I don't live in Corpus anymore and now I fly from freshwater but I hope my advice helps.

I too am waiting for the CL-215 from KMP. Delivery should be within the next few weeks from my understanding. Good luck with your flying.

Oliver
