I have a ESky Honey Bee King II which of course comes with a ESky CCPM 6ch 0402a Transmitter. Does anyone know (for sure) what brand of Crystals are compatible with this radio and is this radio single or dual conversion? The reason I'm asking is because ESky's selection of Crystals sucks.

There was a single posting that THOUGHT Futaba Crystals would work (like WHICH??) Can anyone confirm that Futaba crystals will work in this Xmtr? And are the crystals needed single or dual conversion?

One more Q - I'm building my first 4ch glider (plane) and to save money, I was thinking of using this Transmitter instead of buying another (tight budget these days). Can this ESky 0420A be used for planes too (with the appropriate rcvr and crystal) and servo settings? I have an Hitec Electron 6 (Negative shift) Dual Conversion Rcvr to use with it, if it's possible and I can find a ch 33 crystal to match the E-Sky 0402A or a crystal for the E-Sky to match the ch 55 in the Electron.

Thanks for any info with experience.

Hi not sure you can use you Tx for planes. If you can fly it with 6 channels or less then yes you can use it, you just need another Rx to put into your plane.

As for crystal as far as I'm aware, I just sold some crystals not long ago, that the Futaba crytals will work. They did in mine. But don't take my word on this as gospel. You need to have a matching set. So one will be marked Tx the other Rx and same frequency. The stock Tr/Rx are single and NOT dual conversion.

hope this helps

I also believe that single conversion futaba crystals will work.

The tx will NOT work with a plane however as the ccpm mixing is set in the tx.

I seem to be hearing the same belief that single conversion Futaba crystals are the bill. I had a suspiciion that the CCPM mixing might be an issue with using this TX with planes. Thanks for the verifications on the crystals and TX too Druss! Think I'll just shop around for a good used 6ch Futaba radio. Think with 2.4G coming out, all those RCers' with pockets full of extra money will be dumping old radios. (nice to dream anyway)

If you look inside the back of the esky transmiter is a switch to disable ccpm mixingill try to find the link that shows exactly where it is.

Hey if you can find that link showing the dip switch location and setting, that would be great. I know of two dip switches that are behind the AA battery slots, BUT I've read numerous times on this board that those are to switch to operation via Din/USB cable to a PC for use with one of the Simulator programs. Are you thinking of those dip switches?

This is a very nice radio, not the usual garbage that many models for China come with. Would be nice to use it for more than just my one HB King II.

Let us know what you find, please.

I have 3 of the Esky stock TX's and am using 2 of them to fly a couple of the planes. In the battery compartment behind the 3rd battery from the left there are two small dip switches. Using a small screwdriver gently flip both dip switches the opposite way. CCPM is now disabled. If you plan to use the stock TX for both planes and your heli you may want to figure out a way to remind yourself whether servo reversing are in the proper direction and the CCPM is enabled/disabled. A piece of tape on the face of the TX with the servo directions written on it for both applications or a ribbon for the antennae. Something visual is the key.
Esky RX's are the way to go for the park flyer type planes, I use them in both the planes I have set up on the Esky TX's. They work great and are a good cheap alternative to buying more RX's for the higher end radios.
Esky single conversion crystals are available from bphobbys.com at a reasonable rate as well as the Esky RX's. Last time I looked they had a full selection. Keep in mind that the 72MHz frequencys come in low band (channels 11-35) and high band (channels 36-60). You cannot use a low band crystal in a TX tuned for high band crystals and vice versa.
Hope that was helpful to some of you, Been off the net for about a week and looks as tho I missed quite a bit. Will try to catch up and post when time allows.

<br>

Roger that on the Oops note on the front of the TX for the DIP switch setting, learned that long ago on a TX that have servo reverse switches. Ouch.

Will have to try the ESky RX's, do you have any model favorites in 4 or 6 ch for planes? What kind of range are you seeing with the ESky RX's?

Based on what you said about the low and high band "tunning" - "Keep in mind that the 72MHz frequencys come in low band (channels 11-35) and high band (channels 36-60). You cannot use a low band crystal in a TX tuned for high band crystals and vice versa." Are you saying that if the ESky CCPM 6ch 0402a Transmitter came with a ch 33 crystal, it is tuned to low band and can't be changed to high band and the use a crystal from ch 36-60??

Last, I tried www.bphobbys.com and there's no online store at that URL. It's some "portal" page with everything from hobby links to electric tankless water heaters! Sure you got that URL right??

Appreciate your time and instruction!

My apologies webster! I never posted an URL but did manage to misspell BPHobbies. Here is the correct link to the home page: http://www.bphobbies.com
I can't honestly say on the low band high band thing for the Esky TX's as all of my crystals are in the low band range. I found keeping the channels the same on the TX and buying the proper matching Rx crystal has prevented what I did with my Futaba 6EXH. It was tuned to ch 33 and i switched both TX and RX crystals to Ch 13 and then Ch 33. I had to send my radio in and have it retuned to the correct frequency. That was a $40 mistake i will never make again. I have read of others on here that have switched crystals but seems they always stayed in the same band (low or high) I personally learned my lesson and buy the proper Rx crystal to match my 6EXH (ch 19) The Esky Rx's work just fine for flight, flew a couple of the planks today in a large field by my new place. I am guessing i was at times 300' high and 800 - 900 ft away. Far enough away and high enough to lose orientation on both of them. Never did a range check so can't crunch any real numbers. Others may have more experience with range issues than myself.
BTW the planes were GWS models, a Slow Stick and an Estarter, both brushless with upgraded servos and ESC's. Was a blast and we really had a great time! Then came home and hovered the TREX in the front of the house with some slow side to side and short FF in front of me. Went thru 7 batterys total this afternoon............ a full hours worth of flight and probably then some.

ArrowNaughtic,

I checked out bphobbies.com, found some crystals (BA TX Transmitter Crystals) listed as compatible with E-Sky TX for a buck, nice deal if bphobbies doesn't choke you on shipping.

Didn't see any E-Sky Receivers though at bphobbies; there were Blue Bird Technology BMR-04 and 06 receivers at a heck of a good price. Now all I need to find out is, is the ESky CCPM 6ch 0402a Transmitter Negative or Positive Shift??

Anyone know?

Ps. I've also got a GWS red Slow Stick and a HiTech 3 ch Focus SS (single stick and throttle control) FM radio; had it for years and it's still fun to fly in a small park on a lazy day.

Im using Hitec Rx's that are single conversion but are self shift detecting. They go single or dual as needed and work with my Futaba and Esky Tx's with both Esky,Eflite and futaba Cx's. I tried a HiTec Cx and it wouldn't work but the other three did. And I got the Rx from BPhobbies for like $28 and they are good about shipping.

This is what I use with my two planes on the Esky Rx's. They were listed along with the Esky Cool heli:
http://www.bphobbies.com/view.asp?id=W375703&pid=NESKY163
$18 and known to work with the Esky stock TX. Al
