Hi, I have been looking at rc sail boats and would like to have a go at IOM class. Is there a list of available models that meet the requirements? Ikeep seeing boats advertised but they dont say if they are within the class rules.Any help would be much appreciated! thanks for your time!

IOM is very active in the UK. There may be a club near you that you may visit and chat.

There is the link to the UK model sailing association

http://www.mya-uk.org.uk/

There you can find clubs in your area.

Most IOMs are built by small businesses. They are often sold in a choice of completion states, the more work done, the higher the cost. Probably the best known is SailsEtc as they make a wide range of fittings as well as hulls and sails. .

There are other builder links on the mya site.

Some IOMs are home built. There are plans on the website for the Triple Crown that you can build yourself. (I did mine complete with A & B rigs for under $600)

Sometimes a used boat will be advertized for sale.

You will find that an IOM can be quite expinsive, I would recomend a Victoria you can pick up a kit at Tower Hobbies for less that $200.00
Most people will recomend the Vicky it is a good boat to start with.
My club races Victorias, ODOMs, and IOM (O'Aces Yacht Club Las Vegas NV)
