You might want to get a hand held temp guage/gun cause the on board ones are off 5 degrees or more..

I'd keep that thing between 200 and 210 personally.

Don't get too caught up in the temp gauge. Listen to the engine, watch the smoke, and note the performance on climb out, if its running lean it will hang and rat tat tat all the way down when you hit throttle hold.

Great help guys I will keep all that in mind and let yall now how it goes . What made me ask the question in the first place , is after running a gallon through the engine(broke out engine rich), I decided after every tank I would lean her out a littal more ( one or two clicks on the needle valve). I also would check the Temperature gauge (venom mine temp. gauge). On the fifth tank later she was running fine and the temp. was 186F ,so one the six tank I carried her in( needle valve) but this was not at the flying field and in my back yard , so just hovering. The big tank at this time is empty and the small tank is half empty(so getting ready to oto rotat) but before she ran out of fuel the engine just died down , so landed her and chequed the temp. gauge which was reading 269F . So I though I have just ran her to lean and she over heated. I then riched the mixture( opened the needle valve three clicks) and let her cool down . Becouse I don't have much experiance with helicopters ,I was very worried I damaged something . After she cooled down (15 mins or so) I refueled ( half tank of fuel) and started her back up , she did not die this time and ran very nice , but the temp. gauge was 267F . Can this be a result of just hovering and not getting efficient cooling as you would if you were to fly around ? I don't now if that makes any sence . Is it that the temp. gauge is just a good average and not the actual temperature? Do i just rice her out more(open needle vavle) ? I don't want to loose to much head speed. The weather on that day ( the day it died while hovering in the back yard) , it had just stopped raining and got very humid . And for thoughs who don't now Trinidad, it's very hot . Thank alot again .

Forgot to say she always had a good smoke trail and the performance on climb out was good.
