Status: offline 		Due to a recent judge ruling, google will be forced to turn over every record of ever video watched by youtube users, including user's names, and IP addresses to viacom. some more info at this article

Status: offline 		Itresting... At first i thouhgt they wanted the ip addresses to sue people who watched but i see that is not the case which is good.


Google might be in trouble and they might regreat ever buying youtube lol...

I have a video on there with a song from Fall Out Boy (which I bought off iTunes), and Youtube detected that I put the song it (because I didn't name the song right when I put it in the video) and they told me about it.

Status: offline 		dam all my songs are in my vids and no mention of them, but to be honest i would love to have the job of watching all of these videos just to find people who have the songs, i mean really getting paid to spend mind numbing hours watching good bad funny vids just to find out there song is in it, don't these people love free advertisement?

Status: offline 		I really don't think Viacom will be successful. The volume of videos uploaded to youtube, makes manual control over content impossible. I believe it will continue to remove videos based on copyright infringement as and when they are reported by the copyright holders.

If Viacom wins, youtube may as well be shut down.

As for free advertising, yes, a number of companies including Sony music entertainement have started uploading their own artists music to youtube, mainly under the heading of gaining exposure, as they would via radio broadcasts, which is not subject to royalty payment as far as I know.

Be intersting to see how this one plays out.

Status: offline 		Furthermore, it opens up Google to a class action by youtube users who agreed to the terms and conditions of use, on the condition that their pivacy would be protected. I for one gave no permission for my youtube profile to be shared with Viacom, and I do not want Viacom or any other private organisation to know what I do with my spare time. The attorney general could be sued as well, for allowing the judge to make such a sweeping, and to me, apparently illegal ruling.

This is a dangerous legal precedent.
