Just picking up a Hellfire with this engine. Anyone know if its any good? How does it compare to the O.S. .28? I heard its got alot of torque, should I gear it up accordingly to get a little more top end out of it?

Stock the .30VG is slow. The torque is not bad.
It worth getting it modified.

I mod one for my friend to help the top end power, day and night.
Heres a video in its OFNA Violator buggy:

Stock for stock, the OS .28 is definatly quicker.

Great video, how much does modding an engine cost? I'm in the UK, so not sure what there is here...

Also, is it going to be better than my stock 4.6HO in my Hellfire?

Not modded may be slightly faster, especially on torque, cant say about top end, but if you get it modified it will be faster.

If you want to get it modified i suggest you to send it to ABmods and get the stage 2. its 105$

It will give a little more power than in my video, i had some advices from ABmods to mod this engine (Thx AB!)

$105, so thats like £50, then theres postage, and the wait to send it the USA! Hmmmm, will have to think about it. Is there anyway I could do it myself? or do you need to copy from some good quality photos?

It would be hard to copy and for all the work involved in knowing the right timing no one will just give their timing....

Seriously for that engine it worth getting it modded by someone who know what hes doing.

And the power increase is very good

a stock .30vg has awsome low end.if geared too low it can and will rip out ring and pinoin gears.go with a 16 or 17 tooth if you want.modded there are crazy.but the sleve is very soft,so they ware fast.i own 1 and it lasted about 2 gals.pulled it out and opted for a axial .28rr.much happer now

I'm concerned about it not lasting, 2 gallons! thats a joke! Think I might sell it and buy an OS .28 or a GO .25 / .28 they are cheap as chips and I know they have got amazing reviews. Hopefully a 4.6ho and a O.S. .30VG on ebay will raise enough for the GO engine and pipe, about £150
