The set-up was excellent, plenty of power. We had it figured for a 8 minute flight with 2 minutes to spare.

I was coming around to drop the gear and make another circuit to land and got too slow around the corner, hit the wind and those 3 blades were just too much of a brake. I forgot to trim in some throttle to maintain an idle before I took off.

I won't make that mistake again.

Going to try another next year.

i have got my hands on the asm A26 invader and have started the build when a so called friend said something about counter rotating props on twins.
so do you need them on the A26 i have tried researching but have not come up with an answer can anyone help please.
i also have plans to build a ARF B17 and wonder if the same thing applys to the 4 engine set up the instructions for both planes does not mention anything about counter rotating props so need advice.

Status: offline 		I finished mine about a year ago without the added expense of the counter rotating props and it flys and handles just fine, I'm using 2 OS-55 FX's which are more then enough power to get this black beauty off the ground and flying. Of course this just my opinion and remember what they say about opinions!!! Oh and I fly 3 bladed master airscrew props.

Status: offline 		thanks for your opinion i will be using the kms 4120/05 motors on mine and am having trouble finding a pair of counter rotating props big enough so far only found 12" x 5" . your right she is a beautiful aircraft and i cant wait to complete the project. thanks

Status: offline 		Wow! You guys should see what Larry Wolf of Jet Hangar Hobbies is doing with one of these ASM A-26's! He is totally scaleing it out with every detail you can imagine. He has pulled all the covering and glassed all the wood structures, redid all the control surfaces to make them very scale and glassed the bottom of the plastic fuse. Made a new fiberglass eight gun nose and tip tanks! It will be an A-26K Counter Invader as used in Veitam. He has not posted here for awhile so I had to spill the beans! I almost bought one too after seeing it. Should be ready later this summer. Electric powered with scale props.


This is just a pic of a plastic model I found on the net that is the same.

Status: offline 		I Bought my 92 inch A/B-26 at the AMA convention in '09. Put it together in March this year, 2010, and put two flights in at our HSRCC Club roll out party in April and two more at the IMAA West Coast event at Castle AFB in May. lt Flies like a trainer. Nice thing about bombers they take off, do circles, and land. That's it. This one does so very nicely. I tried a roll and you could have had a cup of coffee before it completed the roll!!! I electrified mine using two 4130-6 brushless outrunners on 13x10 props with 100 amp esc's and a 3s2p 4000 mah lipo pack on each engine. Is that the right terminology?? Any way I am using two 3 cell 4000 mah lipos wired in series on each engine, the batteries in the engine nacelles. I cut hatches in the cowls like the instructions said and all the cowl structural integrity disappeared, wobbled all over the place. So i glued the cowls back togethet and now i just take the cowls off to put in the batteries. Only takes a minute. I did not install retracts, not sure it is worth the effort. Word of caution!!! The stab plywood joiner is not made of the best wood. Suggest you trace it out on a GOOD piece of plywood and use the good plywood for the joiner. My original piece broke very easily and I had to cut a hatch in the bottom rear of the fuselage to add braces to the joiner.

I am using standard electric 13x10s on my B-26 and 90 inch NITRO P-38. Do not notice any torque effect. Of course I do not worry about engine out problems either!! Four flights on the B-26 and about two dozen on the P-38. The 38 IS more aerobatic then the 26. We put a movie camera on the horizontal tail of the 38 last fall and you can go to "tire fire" on you tube and take a ride on the 38 under Don Morse P-38.

And you won't notice the difference with glow/gas either, engine out or not. CR props are a solution to a problem that never existed in the first place.

Status: offline 		I just picked up the A-26. I have a nice pair of Saito 72s. But some of the posts here make me wonder. I am sure they do not have the power that the OS 55 does and do wonder now about using the Saito 100. Both of these engines are very reliable. However............

No one so far has talked about how this airplane flies on one engine. TF says no problem with the B-25 and their engines. Same with the Horizon Twin Otter.

So what can anyone tell us about this aircraft on a single engine?

If you read the thread, it flies like a corkscrew lawn dart on one engine and they are heavy, so not much gliding capability either.

Status: offline 		i'm building one with the Eflite 60 motors. i'm installing SpringAir retracts and after i cut the landing gear struts to equal the fixed gear that came with the kit, the wheels don't fit when retracted. I can either shorten the struts or move the mounting plates/gear mechanisms forward. But moving the gear forward may impact the balance point on the ground. What did other people do? Did anyone use non-ASM retracts?

Also, what scale pilots did people use to look realistic?

Last spring I picked up a partially built Berkly A-26/B-26 kit from the 50's. Wing and fuse are framed up, has the Spun Aluminum Cowls, etc.
I have a few things on the board in front of it, but I'm looking to start collecting engines and retracts. and build it

This is about the same size 87" span, I'm curious what brand and Model # retracts guys are using,,
I've read thread saying the ASM retracts are iffy?? Is this true or are the ok?
