Question for Matt.. I can see a small nick on the leading edge of 3 rotor blades on my P60. They are very small but can be felt with the fingernail. Do you think an inspection is necessary? Engine functions great.. If returned, should I include the ECU?

Thanks, Henry

Hi Henry,

I say fly it. If the nick has affected the balacne it might have a small (negative) effect on bearing life. Keep an ear out for early bearing wear (it is a high pitched whine that you will notice as unusual) and then think about service. My guess is that you balance is fine and your turbine is fine (and it is flying season) so have fun!

Let me know if you have any other questions,

Regards,

Hi Matt,

On the same subject the P60SE I took delivery of a month or so ago has a bright green marking, almost paint like, on one of the compressor blades. The blade has a slight warp towards the outside edge and you can see markings, swirling, almost machined in on the interior part of the same blade. No nicks at all. I ran it for the first time last weekend on the test stand and had no problems - but what's up with the green and the warp??

Thanks,
Dan

edit: The first picture was taken after the test run , the third picture is the engine after initial mounting to the stand.

Hello,

Sorry, busy day today at the real job (that pays)

That looks normal to me, sometimes the balance adjustments are made ont eh face of the blades.

Enjoy the turbine, I have about 250 flights on my Stingray with a P-60 (now SE) it flies great.

Regards and sorry again for the late reply.

Dan,
mine looks exactly the same, green stuff and all
I had mine started today, very nice throttle response (also had a P160SE and the P160 SX up and running, the SX has incredible acceleration!)
