does the horizontal fin do anything for flight? i have a carbon fiber one and its cracked on the rear part, its still intacted just has a crack and i can separate it.. can i epoxy it and fly??

Sure, patch it up. Some people just take them off.

The horizontal fin is just a cosmetic end for the boom supports, it does nothing on RC Helis, and they do not exist on real ones. But the vertical fin is needed to avoid rudder hit the ground easily.

Most if not all 1:1 helis have horizontal fins and yes they do something. I take mine off because I don't like them.

IMHO they are there for a reason. Why would manufacturers make the cost of a kit more expensive including something that is not needed? The vertical fin is used in FF to keep the tail following the heli (obviously not in heading hold) and the horizontal fin helps to keep the thing level in FF. If I'm wrong, please tell me.
