hi all

iv been bashing my monster truck now for over 12 months without tuning, running or starting issues. But on its last 2-3 outings i noticed the engine idle speed was getting higher and i was having compensated for this by adjusting the tickover screw to slow the rmp's untill i found that i could not adjust it anymore, the screw was fully out, but it was running fantastic, plenty of low and topend power. On its last outing it started 1st time as always and ran without problems for a good 30mins, but i was finding each time the engine was stopprd i could only restart it as if it were cold, by putting the choke on, 1 pull (revs) choke off, pull and fires, i could not start it without choke!!! when running now the truck was contantly moving forward and the revs were very high, i was having to hold it with brake on to stop it from moving, if i adjusted the low speed needle it either reved higher or bogged and stalled, to be honest i havnt really had to mess with needles since i had it, exept for get a little low end power. I got the truck home, removed the carb, cleaned it with carb cleaner, put both needles back to factory settings L=1.5 turns, H=1.25. i refulled with new fuel and atempted to start & tune it. It would start 1st time, but would not idle or accelerate, i find i had to richen the mixture just to get it run even then its either reving way too high and dying or just stayed high, i turned the needles in/out and im getting no joy, and main thing is each time it cuts i cannot start it unless i use the choke for 1pull even tho its warm/hot...ive checked fuel, pipes, filters, plug gap & condition and all the common things, please help as im running out of ideas, i just want to get it running again!!!
any comments or suggestions would be appriciated.

thanks
mike

While it is running spray WD or carb cleaner along the fuel system like carb seals and the like. If you have an air leak you will hear it bog when you spray the area.
Inspect fuel line for bubbles during operation, or simply install new fuel lines.

Yep Foxy. With the engine running, try to spray some WD40 or similar universal lubricants around the carb to see if the rpm's become different,if it does theres a leak somewhere

I just took out my crank seals/bearings. Same kinda concern with unable to tune. When I removed my clutch bell I could move the crank up and down a total of 1/8 inch, same on the fly wheel end.
