well here is an update on the hull i have been building. its 40" long 21" wide, and will be powered by a OS 1.08

here are the updated pics of the hull. hope you all enjoy.

it will have a water rudder, and i hope to get some nice top speed runs outta this thing. my goal is about 40mph, but with a 1.08 i dont think that much speed will be a problem. the motor will be mounted upside down to keep the CG as low as possible.

the whole hull has been painted white, and will have some orange accents to start. i have about 6 coats of automotive acrylic paint on there, but want another couple coats to get it nice and waterproof. then i can start laying some color on top of the white.

i have another thread of the build of this boat. just look further down the page for all the build pics.

most of the thickness is 1/8th hoby ply. the top is mostly 1/16th hoby ply. and the motor mount is constructed from 1/4" hoby ply. all of it is birch ply wood.

sweet so it looks like you have a step hull and a tunnel hull combined thats smart so what are the thinckest and thinest parts to the boat

the boat is thinnest at the rear at one inch at the hull and 2.5 total height
it is thickest at point where the hull meets the outer sponson at the top level at about 3.5 inches. and 2 inches for the hull.

get a new pipe. something like this should do.
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXZ563&P=7

This will DRASTICALLY improve the power that the engine makes. Allowing you to run a higher pitch prop, thus more top speed.

you'll need this, too:

I think that'll fit your engine, but i'm not sure.

J.M.
thanks for the info on the tuned pipes. i am going to stick with the stock muffler for now. and if i feel the need for the added power, i will go for it.

what would be a good prop recommendation for optimum RPm'S?

i noticed in the pics how you were running your servo and was wondering where to get that kind of push rod setup stuff.
