I adjusted my idle screw because my buggy was sometimes stalling when it idled. I started driving it and it worked fine, but all of a sudden the power sort of cut. It still runs and the engine works fine, but almost no power goes into the back wheels. It can't go uphill, and runs slower. If I pick the buggy up and give it full throttle the wheels spin, but have no force. Just a gentle touch of my finger on them and they completely stop. I checked and all the gears seem to be spinning properly, but I figure before I just go ahead and take it apart I might as well ask. Any ideas on what broke, and what I can do to fix it?

Thanks in advance.

Check to make sure that your dogbone from the middle to the rear differential is still there. If not then theres your problem!! I have included a picture to show you where it starts from so you know where its located. Its hard to find and see with the car assembled but possible if you look at the right angle.

Still there and intact. The back wheels are not completely disconnected. Like I said they still spin, just have no force behind them. I can easily stop the wheels at full throttle with my finger. There is just a weak link from the engine to the wheels. Everything else works fine, so it is not the engine or the servo.

Great suggestions, thank you both. Tomorrow I will just take the buggy apart and check the dog bones and center diff. I'm sure I'll find and fix the offending piece.

its a good idea to locktite all screws going into metal when you get a new rc...I learned the hard way by leaving 3 out of the 4 motor mount screws on the pavement with my first nitro...you might check the rear diff drive cup set screws also....

I'll do that. Thanks firebird, I appreciate the help.

OK. I figured it out. Took it apart today, the main gear in the center diff. is worn out. The gear is a bit rounded so it was not fully catching on the engine gear. My only concern is that it only lasted for about 1/2 gallon of fuel use and that is a brand new buggy, and all new parts. Is is normal for it to wear out so quick, and are there any ways to help that gear last a bit longer once I replace it?

that would be ur spur gear....that needs to be properly meshed with the clutch bell to get any life out of it...way to properly mesh it ist to stick a piece of paper between the spur and the clutch bell gear...properly meshed you should see light punctures in the paper were the edge of the gears were...the rest of the paper should just have an imprent of the 2 gears
