I's sorry...I cannot find the appropriate "venue" to ask my question, so I'll air it here and you can delete it afterwards.

I recently posted an ad for a used engine. Though I did not offer Paypal as a payment mode, a buyer came forth with an offer and asked for a Paypal invoice. I sent your normal invoice, accompanied with my email address. He apparently received it along with some notes I had sent concerning engine details. Then he asked for another Paypal invoice. I sent another invoice with a note...and heard nothing more for a few days. Then I sent a note telling him that if he wanted to back out of the deal, tht was okay. He then proceeded to give me what sounded like a lot of BS a kid would spout...and no further word.

Okay, since he is probably just screwing around, I want to cancel this sale, but don't want him to post a bad rating for me. So what do I do? The engine is only worth $52.00 but I didn't post it to keep it for a welsher's amusement.

Your advice would be appreciated.

Jerry

Have you explained to the "buyer" that you do not accept Pay Pal? I would make that point very clear first off. Then I would ask, point blank, if he intends to buy the item. This gives him an opportunity to back out. If he backs out, fine. If you hear nothing for a reasonable period of time, cancel the sale. Hope this helps.

Skyflyer,
I'm not trying to be a smarta$$ here but I'm not clear on one point. Are you trying to say you don't accept Paypal? I think that's part of the problem. I don't think your buyer gets it either. Now if you're saying you sent a Paypal invoice and he hasn't payed yet then you would be completely within your rights to cancel the sale. Maybe I'm wrong but I didn't think he could leave a rating for you if you cancelled the sale. Anybody know if that's right?

Hi, thank you all for your replies. Perhaps I gave too much detail, but then...I didn't think the RCU people would move a question I'd intended solely for a moderator...and air it in open forum! The problem was resolved with no bad "aftertaste." Thanks again. Jerry
