I was looking at my aluminum swashplate today and noticed with just enough power applied to get the bottom rotor to slowly spin if you put in any left/right-forward/backward stick it would bring the rotors to a stop. Although this could be normal I got to thinking if there might be a little friction in the swashplate and thought about putting a drop of WD40 on the top of the swashplate to lubercate the parts. I figure the only problem that arise from this would be putting to much fluid in and it drips on to motors or other electic parts. As long as I dont use much WD40 do any of you see another problem I might encounter? Or might this be a good idea?

Don't use 3 in 1 oil it collects dust really bad. I haven't tried WD40, but I use Tri-Flow on all my helicopters. It is great and makes everything smoother. You can get it at bicycle shops since that is what is was made for or some online helicopter stores.

I use a synthetic weapon lubricant. It's used for desert environments. It's a dry lubricant. Apply, heat surface, and reapply. You should be able to get one of those for your local gun shop.

So is the best place to drop the lube on the swasplate right on top? Secondly, are there other areas that lubing would be beneficial as well?

I put a couple of drops in from the bottom. Then spin the swasplate. All bearings need good lubrication. Then thrust bearings need grease and the autorotation bearing needs a lot of lubrication.

I do have an unopened bottle of the Militec-1 as well. I also use Eezox, which is a great dry lubricant and cleaner. http://www.eezox.com/gun-care.html

Yes, I am a gun enthusiast as well.
