You may want to read post 404 in this thread. It was also mentioned in some earlier threads about the clearence being to tight without the modifacation. Using the P-80 mount, I added the 3/8" hardwood spacer on both sides and it is perfectly centered. I did do a trial fit before the final install. I used 30 min. epoxy instead of CA for a stronger support. Also, be sure to apply BVM Heat Shield back there both in the fuse and the turdle deck. Weight is not an issue.

Status: offline 		Without looking at my P-80 installation, isn't the P-80 mount offset. Can it be rotated 180 degrees to give a centered fit? Mine seems as if centered with out the additional hardwood rails. I may also have a different P-80 mount than others. The Boomerang seems a few pounds heavier than my Shockjet taking into consideration the Shockjet has a P-60 and half the fuel capacity. What are most of you guys having to do with CG on the Boomerang? Are you having to move batteries or add weight to get it on or near the CG? I cut up BVM insulation and installed, added aluminum tape over that and then painted the inside of the turtle deck with heat shield to manage the heat from the business end of the P-80. The combination of all three will do the job to keep the turtle deck cool.

all the JetCat mounts are offset and require the 3/8" shim, flipping the mount will only offset the turbine 3/8" high rather then low.

Anyone using crow on the Sprint? I messed about with it yesterday and found that with 60%mix reflex and full 90degree is like hitting a wall. Needed half power to stop it from falling. Reduced reflex to 30% and full landing flap to about 75degree and had a much more predictable landing approach with around 1/3rd throttle. I don't think this design needs crow with that flap, but it's good to be able to come in on power so if it's needed, the throttle is more lively to go round again.

At our field we've decided the CG is very safe (nose heavy) as per manual, Inverted flight needs a lot of down elevator. I've moved my turbine to the back of the mounting rails, and will now move receiver packs aft too.

Be interested to hear other users thoughts.

Status: offline 		hello dave i have the full flap with crow on my sprint. i wont land it without it . its nice because you can come in with good power on so its already spooled . always remember though not to come in with the nose up with crow. the sink rate is considerable. i carry about a quarter throttle with the nose down slightly. keeps the airspeed perfect. i have two settings for flaps. one normal rate with no crow and full flap with crow. as i said before though you will need to mix down elevator for the full flap with crow. on a few posts back i show my plane with the full crow position. i was reading post on here some people were saying you dont need flaps . i dont agree. with the full flap crow you can come in very slow keeping your ground speed to a minimum for roll out. means less brakes... glad to see someone else using crow... pat

I feel using the flaps is a good thing because of using power durning landing. Some posts back said the mix 30% down elev with the flaps. I understand that because once the flaps are deployed, without the mix, the nose wants to go up. So, could you explain crow. I'm due for my maiden in about 2 weeks.

Status: offline 		hello doc. i dont know the exact settings for it. i bought the plane from my friend and we just did a data transfer on my 9303 2.4. ok maybe this will help. i have two rates for flaps . on the first rate the flap will come down about 45% with a slight bit of down elevator . you will have to play with it until the plane doesnt ballon anymore. when i go to full flap is when the crow is activated. the elevator will go down a little further along with about a quarter inch of up ailerons.. i only go for the full flap with crow when i land. i dont mess with the low rate flap. soon as i turn on the down wind i level the plane and go full flap. the plane becomes a big **** cat. very stable. no ballooning at all. just keep your throttle up a little as you turn on base with the nose slightly down. the plane will come down like its in slow motion. unreal how stable. you will like it . you dont need a long roll out. just play with the mixes until you get the elevator set right.. hope this helps.. pat

Yes pitch changes slightly on mine too but with variations in airspeed, not thrust. Mine is also set up as per the manual CG but for inverted I only need a touch of down.

My Sprint is mounted with an oversize turbine (15 kg, 33lbs), and I think I need to turn it down a bit, in order not to destroy the jet. What is the largest thrust-sizes that you fly with?? Is 12 kg (27lbs) still to much?

How does your Sprint’s perform in a side-wind landing? Are you just applying sufficient ruder, to make it fly straight, or how?

Status: offline 		Pretty sure max for this aiframe is p80 sized, so around 20lbs. I flew in a 10mph cross wind yesterday and the sprint was unaffected. The wind did swing around more for my final flight, but a touch of the big rudders kept it straight.

I've also sorted my crow. Full landing flap is around 70degrees with approx 5degrees reflex. Landing flap needs a small down elev mix, comes in on 1/3rd power. Once I'm over our fence line, cut the power and she comes in nicely. Each flight i'm moving my CG back, but am really starting to enjoy flying it now.

Status: offline 		I flew mine in a very strong crosswind, the sprint is not very much affected by it. I dont use rudder, I just come in at a crab angle and just before touchdown I de-crab it with the rudder. Thats how we do it in full size.

I have a falcon in mine 21-22lbs or so... and i can go from lift off to straight vertical (full fuel) with my falcon...

Make sure you post pictures when you rip your wings off..lol i have never seen a boomer blow apart in the air, but 33lbs should do it.

OR..... sell your sprint and put that big monster in a Boomer XL...

I personally think the falcon (21# or so) is the perfect match for the Sprint.
