Hi there,

Im new to the whole RC thing so I apologise if this question has been asked a million times before but any help would be greatly appreciated.

I currently own a Tamiya TT-01 1/10th car and want to upgrade to a brushless system, I have been looking at the NOVAKs but am so confused about what I need, initially I thought just get the fastest i.e GTB Veociti 3.5 but as I read more Im thinking perhaps this is not the best option for my usage.

I only use it to race with my friends in empty car parks or small tight turn tracks and the occassional medium track, so not "real" competition racing just for fun, but I would like a motor that is faters than my brushed has good acceleration, good run time etc. The standard Tamiya motor is very slow I bought a Z tune upgrade which was slightly fatser but over heats the speed unit.

Anyway any help or recommendations would be greatly appreciated, oh the reason I say NOVAK is that seems fairly easy to get here in Japan.

Thanks heaps.

well since you will be racing on tight and medium sized tracks the 3.5 would be overkill. I would say something like a 10.5 to an 8.5 motor. the 10.5 is like a 19 turn brushed motor

a 10.5 or so is probably what you are looking for. you may be able to get away with a 8.5 in your car. i just got a speed passion gt/ 10.5r combo and i have to say that it is by far the best brushless system i have ever owned.

thanks for those replies, but Im still unsure why or what a 10.5 is and why one would suit me, I know the number refers to the number of turns, what makes a 10.5 better than say a 3.5 for example or an 8.5?

thanks again, like I said Im new to this so basically my knowledge is nil...

uhh.. well if you dont want to preform maitnence like you have to on a brushed motor the get a brushless motor. Over the past year i have gotten rid of 90% of my brushed equipment and now run brushless in all of my cars except one of them.
