Hey Slawhammer

I know you have the cable brakes installed, any pics? I got a cable system from an onroad car and wondered how you set yours up (or anyone else that wants to post a pic)

Thanks all

Hey my friend..long time ..check on page 17 there should be a couple pictures there....1 of installed brake on front
and down the page the hook up for the servo....I went to the throttle/brake servo....disconnected the layshaft brake....
as the inner wire streach's you have to keep making adjustments..to keep the brakes tight....on the cable holder.......
takes a bit ..but they work great.....Slawhammer

I knew it was here some where. Almost got the Meanie setup the way I want, just wish I had a bit more time for the hobby. Great pics, exactly what I needed.

Thanks Slawhammer

Rc applications as well....so far so good...I have 1 gallon of fuel ran thru this new top end kit.....I am now using Hostel AT rear tires....these tires
are awesome ..they hook right up....throws rooster tails from both rear wheels easy....can do wheelies on demand any time....
I also have a 2 Spd that I am going to install before two long..I got it used..so ya take a chance buying used....I have to rebuild the 2 spd
it is shook pretty bad.....needs new bearings,3 pinion gears and 2 spur gears...to make it right again to use.........

Hey Lars..yup that tire on the rear does a great job...awsome hook up on dirt & grass.........
well a stroke of bad luck....I had going on second gallon of feul and the engine quit.....Could not pull over,,
so I took things apart to get to the engine.......I pull the tope end off the engine ..to find the cylinder and Piston
all gouged up....this was caused by the clip from the piston wrist pin coming loose.......That can happen to any engine....
Enclosed pictures........All Replies Welcome....Slawhammer

bad luck slaw my friend!!

man thats nasty....

was it the c-clips on the piston that you put in wrong?

the opening needs to be facing to either top or bottom...

i know of some people that made this blunder.

man havnt heard from you in a while.......

hows things?

Hey man..the clips were in correct..facing down.....could have been bad clip..piston not grooved right...
any way I will be checking local Napa auto parts store for cir-clip or snap rings to use.............
As last resort I can press fit a pin in the piston....like ya do on 1/1 real cars......( old school) chev engines.....
as I am a old engine builder........the clips that come in these small top end kits are a wire clip..like a paper clip wire
even if you install it correct..you may have twisted the wire clip a bit...even stays in place..it can still come loose.....
It happens....even on complete engine you buy....Things just happen......Thanks for your reply.....Slawhammer

dc..As to the clips to hold the piston wrist pin in place...even with plier's installing the clip...If you twist the clip wire
it will go in ok..but it may be damaged and ya don't know that....And you think it is correct even up or down for the opening...
It is clipped or not...you can push on the wrist pin to see if it stays in place and don't move......rebuild the engine...Run it
if stays more than gallon of fuel ..I guess your ok....If not ..you seen what can happen..............It can happen even on a brand new engine right
out of the box......cuz some one had to build the engine......Ever body just hopes they get a good engine........
Oh for your information....there are no cir-clips or snap rings ..internal..small enough for the piston wrist pin......your stuck with the wire clips that come in a kit.....
Thanks for your reply.............
So any body that rebuilds a engine..should pay attention to what there doing......just cuz ya think you know it all and have do it before..you may have gotten lucky....
All Replies Welcome......Slawhammer

yes i agree with you they can be a bit of a nussance but it is the only way to do the job,who ever suggested welding the c-alips to you is either dumb or just hasnt a clue, that piston pin needs all the movement it can have on piston cycle/rotation and if its welded it will just cause more grief.

they are the only solution im afraid and just need to be put in properly....

being honest i have never heard of them coming loose like that before or out of the factory but i suppose if you say so the risk must be there.

damm your unlucky man.......

whats your plan now so??

Been a while since my last post......So far so good on this build......gave the marine head with dark soul cooling head another shot....
The more I run this engine the better it gets....I am just shy of a gallon of fuel on this now......I think ya know I went to Baja wheels & tires
Rear tire's are AT's those tires really hook up .....love those tires..front are baja dirt buster's they seem to do very well.......
I did manage to get a couple high speed runs....this car weighs 30lbs....I got a reading of 32.7mph off the gps unit....wanted to get a picture of the
speed ..I did some thing wrong it got deleated.........But the speed is about waht I figured any way some where around 30 mph.........
I don't think some one will dispute 32.7 mph on this..it's in the ball park for these cars or trucks with this weight....2wd....
I have a 2spd unit I am rebuilding..new bearings and new gears..that will go on soon......I will keep ya posted.............
...................All replies Welcome ......slawhammer........

Been quite some time since I posted...I did hit 38.3 mph....blew another top end..this time the spark plug came out the hole....
so that makes 3 top ends in just over a month..........Those top ends were heavy modified and piston mod aswell.........
I build up another marine head using the dark soul cooling head again.......this time no modifications done........These top ends are ment
for the boat guys who run WOT......I am giving this last head a chance....So seems to be ok for the time being...........
I don't baby these engine's I run the hell out of them...they will go or blow................So with that said........My next engine will be
a ported 27.2 cc engine........All zenoah 4 bolt.............slawhammer,,,,,

Are you subscribing on engine heads? You could almost have had the head like on the Cox nitro engines with the glowplug integrated in it

Hey Lars..good  hear from ya.....I am just hard on stuff.....I have always ran engines hard from the get go...on gasoline
new or rebuild..run easy for first half tank of fuel to get the bearings and piston ring set in .. then full bore from there....just check to make
sure not running lean is all.....But these are marine heads ...there to be water cooled,,,,,,,really ment for the boat guys.....But some people
have good luck running them in there cars & trucks.........the heads are some what modified when you buy them....I just went a little more on
the heads for the mods is all.....they will go or blow........this last rebuild I left stock the way it comes from factory........So far so good...
I got this engine too hit 38.3 MHP....about what I figured for a 30 pound car................My next build will be a  27.2CC race ported engine
going too use a 2spd set up......with some gear changes..projected speed is 45 to50 MHP.............
So ya know I have no shelf queen here.....Hope to get up a video soon.....Slawhammer

Hey man Ive enjoyed reading your posts... from now on I am going to take alot more care when inserting c-clips . Its weird to think that such a small part can destroy an entire top end!

BTW, when you say your using a marine top end does that mean your engine has a water jacket, radiator etc ?? That would be awsome

Hey sam....This all started I think back in October 2008 with RCU member teamchrome....I wanted to build a different engine.....
Teamchrome told me about the marine set up and he was running it..And said he had good luck with plenty of power.....
So as time passed along...looking it different engine setup's and combonation's to build........
I did read up on the marine heads....mostly used by boat guys..who want crazy speed for there boats..............
The use with boats ..they have to use longer crank shaft and a water pump..with a water jacket for the engine to keep cool.........
It was later adapted for car& trucks to use....with a Dark soul alloy Cooling Head..........It would be to hard to use any type of radiator
for cars or trucks....It could be done....but not very reliable....when bashing or trying to race from a crash point of things.......
So I built up a marine head to try out.....As you have read along the way I have had some minor set backs.........
Like I just posted..I am on # 3 marine head......and running the hell out of this engine....I left this marine cylinder stock No more
porting done.......I may have got it to radical ..and that could have been my problems all along...............
It does make some crazy power.....fires right up.................
Thanks for viewing my post sam.........I didn't think any one was intrested in this old man and his rc toy............Like some of you have read from the start..I am a disabled vet and 64 years old..........So I have been in the rc hobby for over 50 years.......I enjoy these 1/5 scale units more than nirto
But every one had to start some where and for many years nitro was the only thing there was....................
,\...........................................................All Replies welcome..Slawhammer.........................................

Ahh now I see. Im still relatively new to these rc engines...even though I have had much experience with lower power output engines like chainsaws and brushcutters, It seems they are very different to the zenoahs and cy's. Im still amazed at how some of the guys with modified g260rc's on their gopeds can reach upwards of 30mph.

As much bad luck as I have had with nitro engines, I still believe they are incredible little machines. The way the rotary valve assembly is incorporated into the crankchaft is an ingenious idea, and the fact that they can rev to 40,000rpm without fuss is pretty durn impressive

Anyways, thanks for the info on the engine, and I hope you have more luck with the current top-end you speakith of.

Well folks here we are one again in clod hopper land.....Been a while since I posted any thing......
Not much new as my car for up dates.....I been running the hell out of it....And I did...Need less to say
I blew another marine top end....on the engine...So I build up another one....non modofied...and now running it
to see what happens to this top end.....The marine cylinder is modified from the factory....I just made it more radical
on taking out more material in side the cylinder and working the transfers.....May be that was to much..........
We will see..My next build is a 26cc Race ported engine........Slawhammer

Good to hear from you again. Good luck on the new motor. I am currently looking for a new motor for my beast, but racing season down here is in full swing. Currently I am finding it hard to find time for the large scale stuff while trying to race 1/10th scale touring in two different classes, 1/8th scale buggy, 1/10 scale truck, and my SC10 in the SC classes. I cranked mine up for the first time in months at the offroad track during practice, and wow did I have a lot of questions to answer! As soon as I started it with the Jetpro pipe I had everyone at the track around my pit table wanting to know more about the large scale stuff. I think it rekindled the large scale spirit in me, so here I am again. My answer to most questions was to check out your thread here.
