New Up Date..I just got a FG Chassie Pan..So that is the last major item....The firehammer is now
or will be all conterverted to FG.......Almost buillet proof ..........
This engine seems to be running good at this time.......I am hard on these things..I run the full tilt.........
As fast as I can.....I am trying to hit 50MPH with this thing......I am at 40 MPH now..............
I my self do not miss nirto.....I love the sound of this gasser..like a 125cc dirt bike......Slawhammer

hello slaw

just saw your u tube video in search for other vids lol

good to see you got out with it,the rn fat pipe looks mental, its looking really well now......

i just finished installing my 4 bolt CAD engine its UNREAL.....brute torque and power.i have a video put up on my thread of it in action,i had to harden up all 8 shocks to stop it from lifting the front end lol.might soften them again as it was kinda addictive too

so what kind of weight do you think you are dealing with here now?

i must weigh mine cause its very heavy now fully finished......
mine is just one lump of elcon alloy, just installed new alloy radio tray also from a guy here on the forum that was kind enough to make it for me.

keep it coming slaw.
been a while man, hope all is well.

Hey DC...Yeah..been trying to work with this marine head stuff the boat guys use....Had some misfortune along the way....
you get a good cylinder or ya get a bad cylinder..just depends how it goes....I have had 2 that had problems from mfg errors...
but ya don't know till ya run them.......The come pretty well ported from the mfg.....I got this on some what dialed in..not complete yet
some fine adjustments......For what the engine is it makes some pretty crazy power......Nothing like those engines thet are done by engine builder
or those engine's from over sea's......They use for racing....Oddified has some real radical engine's for power..So do the German builders.....
Been trying to get a couple short vids posted ...of some of the wrok and the potental of this Marine Engine.....But my all time Fav is the 26CC race Ported engine...
My car is all converted to fg now...just got the Fg Chassie taper pan..that was the last item.....My firehammer project was a fun build......And I know many other
people who own a Firehammer or TQ will have some good information on how to make a better Rc unit.........Thanks for the comment my friend....Slawhammer

Ok ...Then I will try to post up a short vid I done just before it rained...I use the ally way for short tests when making adjustments or any changes to the
Rc Car...Now I had a good laugh..I sat the camera on a tri-pod ..out of the way of the Rc car ..about where I stand to run it...Guess what I kicked it over with my foot...
Not the greatest vid...I will take a couple vid's where I run it..that's about 10 miles away....I only use the ally way for testing..cuz if it will break it will in the first 10 minutes.....
I have driven out 10 miles before only to have the rc car break right away.....so I do this for now......

And the camera goes KABOOM! Nice video man, and great sound from the truck man. I hope to have a new Zenoah in mine in a month or so and can put up a good video of it at the track. Your truck looks like it has some serious torque ready to be unleashed at a bigger location.

Hey my friend..yeah that engine now has some crazy power for what it is....It will give those big 30.5cc engine's a good run
if you get these engine's tuned just right and use some diffetent gears you can get some high speeds.........
now on the water for those boat guys there hitting 85+mph.....speed record on the water is 104mph........
I am not sure where I will end up for speed..all on wheel and tire size and gearing...........Right now it is awesome for dirt......
there are no tracks where I am located...I am in a small town...only ball park..golf course or public park..couple abanden mini malls for asphalt use
Good to hear for ya my friend......Slawhammer

Rain here today..It quit long enough..sun came out to dry things up a bit..I headed to a small mini mall area...I think only 1 big store left there
This is nothing great..just a few minutes of run time for the engine....This area is to short for any real high speed runs....
It was I just need to get out and run my car every chance I get....As my health is going down hill..so I need to play as much as I can before I not
able to do this any more......I will try to get up some better vids shortly.....Slawhammer

Hey man..this is number 4 for these marine heads..There known too run hot..and the tune is always off....
color on plug is black or white...ya know all fresh gaskets used....I think It pulled in some dirt...I have yet to tear it
down.....those heads are really ment for boat guys the marine heads use a water jacket for cooling...And the engine is to
be ran wide open throttle......for the cars & trucks they have adapted a alloy cooling head for the cylinder.....I just don't
Think there is enough air flow to cool the engine ....My guess on this......I will build up some thing different.....
Now as too the c-clips..I use a big magnifing glass on a portable stand to look it the clips..while installing them..
there in correct....in the groove..pointing down.....I even push the pin both ways when done to see if they will hold....
Yup no crash or run away.....Been watching where I run lately..as to objects..pot holes..rocks..posts..ect....
I will keep ya posted on this next engine...it is all about crazy speed ...as you should know with a CAT 5 engine......
maybe I should go back flying again..never had any mishaps there for many years.....you do when ya first learn how to fly
after that your good............slawhammer

well slaw i always view your threads anyway and hope its ok to air my opinions on them,as i cant see why i was done over on the other forum for no reason as everybody knows,....kinda retarded as all we do on these forums is discuss  our largescale r/c and thats it....... i think all opinions should be welcome from any race of gender lol

anyway moving on rapidly lol

was funny because the last time you mentioned having trouble with c-clips well sinse then i have built an engine and when i really started to pay added attention to the c-clips i had an awful job trying to get them in [and never before had this problem lol]

i mean i had trouble with them, they can be difficult to grab,i use a pointy nose plyires.....but you dont want to squeese them smaller than they should be as that would only encourage them to pop free in to cylinder.

its the only part of an engine rebuild that i dont like doing......

Oh Yeah old man slawhammer lucked out..The engine is ok..I pulled it apart to inspect it...all looked normal..just like new...
It was a hot day when I last ran on the tarmac...That engine was heat strokin..just like nitro when gets hot......
I did let it cool down to get cold ..I fried it right up again....so I let it get stone cold and then pulled it apart..looking for the
worst to be inside the engine.......Well I have come to the conclusion ya have to fatten up the high side needle more with
this head running full tilt..........But the tune is on or off...spark plug color is black or white...not brown were it should be....
weather is also a factor...humidity..air temp...cold..warm..hot day...where a person live's.......So for now I will keep on pushing this
engine.....Waiting to build up a different engine.......For what this marine head & dark soul cooling head are..it makes some crazy power.......
To all those who have read my thread..thanks for the opinion's..it's all about the hobby & sharing thoughts.......Slawhammer

what mix oilpetrol do you use?

i used to run 150mill to 5liters but now run 200mill to 5 and my god does it run a lot better...with this maixture the engine runs like a dream and idles lovely.

runs much cooler too which can only mean better longtevity for engine.

Hey Man.... I can not my self justify 1500 USD dollars on a Cat 5 engine.....As to the DDM surfer engine ..not yet..I would go with a G270 or G260 rc
there goo enough for just messing around for an hour any way........
As for oil mix..I use 25:1 5oz Klotz 2 stroke oil to 1 gal of gasoline......I read where some in the euro countries are using 6oz of oil to 5 liters..
of course 1 liter gasoline is more then 1 gallon of gasoline..............I have engine parts to build up a 26cc engine or a 27.2 cc engine.......
Just a while back I read about how radical the marine stuff was and wanted to give it a try.....They work for some people and then for some they do not....
for the car & truck use.....cooling is the main thing....the cooling head is open fins....need a good air flow for cooling when using a body shell.....
Thanks for the input....Slawhammer

the thing about these engines is filteration i have just ordered an fg standard type filter with cover and redneck......its the best insurance for these.

the thing about my engine slaw is that i would think they are extremely relibale,if you saw the piston its the nicest design i have seen in my life and i just got a small view in to it before i put on my pipe, the piston looks like it has another ring like full circular ring type groove just above the ring........its cool looking.....and the transfer ports look huge.it looks extremly well made.

what engine do you thionk you will build the 26 or 27?

i am going building my old carson model again and am going to build my old 26cc zenoah also for it during the week too.

looking forward to reading about your new build

I will build up a 26cc engine..I like the 26cc engine.. That is a good... little engine....stock solid 28mm crank...stock cylinder.....The 26 has great rpm's..
yet with that engine.. you still have control of driving the rc car or truck.....to get out and have fun with.....
I did mount up some new rear wheels & tires....Baja rear star gun metal gray wheel..blue bead locks..Hostile At Rear tires....I use the same on the front only
with red bead locks.....seems to handle real well....for all conditions of use...dirt..gravel..short mowed grass..have not tired in sand yet.......Slawhammer

Too use the baja wheels ..you have to get the correct wheel adapters....Mine were fg axles..so I need to have FG to Baja adapters..for the wheels
You can get every thing from DDM web site..here in the USA...for what I have for my beetle....I went with Baja rears rims..front & back...the rear rims are wider
for the set up you of course you will need. The wheel adapters..Baja rims..foam inserts...tires..bead locks....Bead locks come in different colors.........
The tires hook up very well......Slawhammer

Not really any thing noew about my car..I did get out for a bit..to get more engine time.....Hot one here..85+ degrees out sunny...
I opened up the high side needle just a bit....seems to run ok.....No real need for any video.....I only ran for about 20 minutes....
Just to dam hot..I may get out later in the day.....Like after 6pm...when starts to cool down.....So far this is running good.......
I am just going to flog the hell out of this engine.....Slawhammer

Dude, slaw,
If you run anything richer than 35:1 with klotz, you ain't doing anything but carboning up your plug and losing lots of power.
I run 40:1 in all my 2 strokes
Any any richer and power drops off QUICKLY

Well Mike Dude..If you had been reading a few pages back..and not jump on the last page to make a comment......
You would have read this engine is not your every day normal engine....It has been modified and the Cylinder has some radical
porting....This engine runs hot,,so 40:1 oil mix is not enough to cool this engine....25:1 mix just about makes it..with 5 oz oil..But I should
use more oil yet...like 6 oz for 5 liters of gasoline and at 91 Oct... with this engine.....Each engine is different for oil/gas mix....
25:1 is a basic mix...go less 32:1 or 40:1......My engine has no cooling shroud for this cooling head.....But thanks for your comment......Slawhammer

Broham,
You're using 2 stroke oil to cool your operating temps down??

Why not just richen it up?
Air-cooled 2 stroke cyl temps are mostly controled by air/fuel ratio. Not oil.

40:1 oil ratio is all the oil you need for lubrication. Anything more and you're just not running right. Detonation risk goes up, carbon deposits go up, remaining unburnt fuel mixture remains in the cylinder for longer (contribuiting to cylinder temps) and power drops like a rock.

If you're worried about your engine, I'd be running 110 leaded race fuel. Shoot, you could even mix in ethanol.
But OIL??
I don't see the point.

(just trying to help. I've been running/racing/modding 2 stroke engines for 20 years)

run a race seson at 40:1 in a boat-you'll be lucky to finish three heats. if your motor is tuned right and running hard you shouldnt have any oil deposits or dripping. 16:1 is what i run and there is no power dropoff. 25:1 is only recommended due to average engine operation range, if you run higher rpm's you need more oil.

OK Guys thanks for the input..I am currently running a Sikk 26 Marine Head set up....This cylinder has had some radical
porting as well as the piston....I went thru 3 cylinder heads before I got 1 correct....This engine runs hot.......
I use at present time 25:1 oil mix....high needle fattened up or rich....to get this broken in and the piston ring seated.....
I will need to run more oil for cooling.....6oz or even 8oz of oil to 1 us gallon of gasoline.....Like I said before not all engines
run the same...This is also a running high rpm's.........
as a note using a RN Monster Fat Pipe.............................Slawhammer.......................
