the sikk heads are just that. they usually dont need much work, and if they do its very little. ted from darksoul told me the billet head has more surface area than the stock castings, so cooling shouldnt be an issue running the DS kit- even without the fan cover. did you leave the little bit by the coilside or did you just take the whole thing off?

At present time I have the short covers about 1/2 inch wide..to protect the coil....I use a full body enclosed Fg Beetle shell....
So not enough air flow.. will have to come from under the body shell.........If I run with out the body shell..seems great......So I need more air flow
to the engine......Next batch of fuel I mix up I will try 16:1 mix....I want the lube for the engine bearings and the crank piston wrist bushing.....
When you run about 90% of the time WOT Wide Open Throttle you need more oil lube & cooling......
As to the Sikk Marine Head ..the eye brows were reworked...same as the cylinder to match the lower case..............
Like I said before these Sikk Marine Heads make some crazy power for what they are..........You have to learn how to use the throttle
It does not like blip blip blip like some people seem to do..on /off on/off with the throttle all the time..........Slawhmmer

Looking good Roger...and you're totally right about the marine heads, the billet head set ups run hot cos of no shroud...i've heard of i don't know how many seizures with these top ends...relifed pistons are a must and lots of lube to prevent seizures...Ds had major problems initially with their head kits and the beast motors due to cooling issues, specially with body on as you get limited airflow...glad you got yours sorted now. i think the ADA head like clubin runs has big enough fins to cool but he still has side shrouds to try and get some cooling from the mag fins

Hey MooMan....Yup 2 of the marines heads before were MFG problems...1. was the tiny screw holes for the Dark Soul Cooling head@ was spark plug hole .1/2 threaded
causing the spark plug to blow out........I got the Sikk marine Head pretty much right on.....I did relieve the piston for the ring.by 2mm....Cleaned up the cylinder to
fit the lower case.....sealed the cooling head plus the screws....I have been running it rich......I may have to cut a hole in the windshield like done with NITRO for
more air flow.....
Now as to the ADA kit the cooling head has bigger fins...sotra like amushroom look....I have that same kit....I used that before and a c-clip let go..took out the
cylinder & piston.....I have replaced every thing back to a kit again on stand by for use......Thanks for the comment....Slawhammer

Nice Sunny day here in clod hopper land...I got out for a bit of test running ..Did some carb tuning.....
Wanted to make some high speed passes...I could not go above 1/2 throttle..the area is to short with a run out...
I have no control over the camera..seems a bit washed out..But you can hear the exhaust as engine increase's in speed....
The vid's will get better for quality......Slawhammer

Looks good. I have not had my firehammer out lately. I had my nitro buggy out on the weekend. I wish you were close to me so we could drive together.

Hey David0666..Long time to hear from you my friend....Many changes have taken place with my firehammer...
I am working on some speed runs on tarmac now....I got it to hit 45MPH....Couple guys I know say it will hit 50 with stock gearing....
But will see....I have a few more things to do yet...want to get that 2spd installed....There is a small problem with the engine mount
or clutch housing to line up...every thing is off by 2 mm"s........Now that would be fun If I lived close by you....I remember seeing a
couple vids last fall of you running.....Great to hear from you....Slawhammer

Hey commander..sure you can hit 17 or 18 k..but you will have to use lightened piston..fly wheel..& stuffed crank...
as well as good lower case clean up...wt771 carb..well tuned exhaust....for the top end cylinder....It is possiable to
hit 21K even....I am still dialing in this engine....I need a way to measure Rpm's...I did use a lazer wit reflective tape..
It works but not right on......I think there is a product tiny tach that is inductive pick up from the coil wire.....But have read
most tech's only read 9,000 rpm not up to 20,000 rpms......thanks for the comment...Slawhammer

the re are tiny tachs that read up to 20k- a few guys i know have them, check the bay- that sikk motor doesnt need all that work. i had a discussion with the dude from sikk motorsports and he ripped me a new one for "thinking about messing up his work" and told me to put a good pipe on it and let it go. the 26 will send a mono up to 49-50 with a can exhaust. i ran an 813 and a side dom and i could keep up pretty good with a reed 27.2....

to wt771 carb....same internal jetting as the 813...only no accel pump.....I did clean up the lower case to match the top cylinder....
solid 28 mm crank....using a RN Fat Monster Tune Pipe....going to change some gearing....Slawhammer

Awesome thread Roger.........its taken me 3days to read it.

Im just getting back into RC's after a 4year break......used to race in 1/8th buggies and have a fully loaded Savage.
I would like a 1/5th scale but im on the lookout for a second hand one and build/mod it over time.

I must thank everyone for this very helpfull thread and hope to be able to start one of my own soon.

Hello all!!! I HAVE TO SAY....... THIS IS A LONG FOURM!!!!!!!!!!!! i have been reading this forum all afternoon and still not done, and got to say there is some helpful info here. Well i better say first off im goin to be gettin my FIRST 1/5 scale truck with in the next week or so(a used FM MT) i have a hold on it til i have the rest of the funds. would of had the money this week but wife just had to go freakin shopping AGAIN!!!! lol oh well im gettin what i been wanting for some time now . I am gettin a used FH MT and was wondering what to look for when i get it, like weak points. i know that i will be going completely thru it. check bearings and all the bolts and what not. it already has the steel pinion and splur gear and a Nutech oil filled diff. Now the guy bought and installed the Alloy Large Motor Mount from Powerslideracing.com but once he did the stock rear bulkhead brace did not fit at all. When it was placed in its correct position the layshaft and diff gear were not touching at all. what would cause that? Could it be that the large engine mount the wrong one? do FG large engine mounts work? ( that is if it would be a FG one) not really sure what it could be bc i dont have the tuck(yet) but can complain for 380 bucks and the only thing it needs is a radio system (goin to put a 2.4ghz 3ch sysem in it anyway). and to get the gearing to line up correctly. I couldnt pass it up. wife was upset but she will get over it LOL but im gettin back into the RC hobby after a couple yrs of getting out of it. I did run nitros and always wanted a BIG truck to run around and chase the stray cats away with LOL!!!!

Any info would be great!!!!

Thanks again!
