i bought 2x2000 mah batterys brand new from e-bay. they are tornado nicad batterys. i put one in my clod and after about 3 mins my hole truck died and the esc light just flashed constantly...i then put one in my lunchbox and within 3 mins of running the same happened to the esc in that....i tried re-setting them both and nothing happened...my clod esc has come back to life and is working fine now but the lunchbox esc is still broke.....any one have any ideas what this might be?

i was running standard motors in both trucks....

Ni-cads are outdated and hold a much smaller capacity than a ni-mh or lipo. I think your batteries have just ran out of juice. Both of your rc's are on the larger side and your clod is 4wd, so that may also be a factor.

First off, what kind of ESCs do you have?

Second the batteries cannot really damage an ESC unless the polarity is reversed; and you would know if it was even if the ESC was off because it would create popping noises, release the smell of ozone, and if the battery is left on for more than a few seconds the ESC may or may not smoke or catch on fire.
