i still say the drake method is the best. half hour, no chance for fly aways or overdriving, no snapped con rods, no overheating or under heating. the only thing to worry about is the noise, wear ear plugs.

not before after you run it when it cools you want to have it at bdc so the sleve will still have pinch

make a mark on the bottom of the flywheel with a marker pen so you know where bdc is. Then its much quicker to put it at BDC when you are finished running

try scratching it, I've done that with my Firestorm. use a screw driver and scratch a line

yes you do but you dont have to go as easy on it as when it was new.

will the repinching process work with a glass top stove?

Sadly, that re-pinching process will not add any life to your engine.

It will however, result in an out of round sleeve with a tight spot or two, fooling you into believing that you have added 'pinch' back to the engine.

The piston and sleeve will wear quickly, leaving you with a dead mill.

BTDT.

I've tried every method of re-pinching an engine you can possibly think of and only one works.

Raya Racing

This is the same procedure that the factories use to 'pinch' a sleeve when they are made.

HOW DO YOU GET YOU PISTON DROP DEAD IN THE CENTER, AND HOW DO YOU KNOW. CAN SOMEONE HELP?

Without taking the head and button off to actually look. Roll the engine over by hand, feel the pinch yet? Now do it again. Now mentally draw a pic in your head of whats going on in the engine, up down up down. Just split the difference in between the pinch and the point of least resistance. The piston will go full stroke per turn of the flywheel so when you feel the least resistance, that is most likely gonna be close to BDC. Or just take the cooling head and button off and actually look. Mark the flywheel with a sharp knife or a screw driver or sumthin, on the top of the flywheel. This way when your done playin, roll the motor over till the mark you made is where you know BDC is. Easy ain't it? I use a sharpie to mark mine because I take my motors apart and inspect them often, and the sharpie will eventually cook away leaving me with no mark on the flywheel anymore. And when the sharpie mark is gone, then I know its time to take the mill apart and check things out. Put it back together, check BDC, make my mark, and let it rip. Hope this helps you out.
