under $300, what is the best system? I have heard that there is a very simple modification to do with the MM 7700kv that will allow for a 5s lipo use, but are there any systems that will handle it just out of the box?

I can only speak of novak. I have two novak brushless systems. 8.5 and 5.5. IMO these are very good. But like I said I only have experience with novak

I'm trying to find a system that can handle a 4s lipo or higher with no modification...do you know anything about the novak brushless 4.2?

I need something that will push a touring car 100mph+...I know gears play a big factor, but so does voltage...

I don't think any 7700kv setup can do 5S.. due to the physical limitation of the motor..

To get a lot of power, you'd need to use a high voltage ESC w/ a low(er) kv motor.. and gear up..

Monster Max w/ one of them big can Neu motors should generate a lot of power..

I don't know if its 100 mph fast, but Losi's sensored 3.5T motor and speed control can handle 3s lipo right from the box.
