Ok guys, dumb question for ya.

on the gt2, the slipper clutch is the nut with the spring thing that comes out of the spur gear right? (sorry for the bad explanation)
And, what is the right setup for the slipper clutch?
i tried to take of my spur gear, and i unscrewed that nut all the way, and i dont remember exactly where it was

if anyone can help, that would be awsome.

thanks

Not exactly a dumb question... There isn`t an exact "setting" where it goes no matter what. Ok: I do this: screw it on, turn it 5 times, and test it. Too tight? Or to loose? If its 2 tight, loosen it 1 turn. if its too loose, tighten it 2 turns. and keep doing that untill your happy.

Hope this helps
Trent

^^^What Stang said.

I just turn it until I think it's right, not too tight or not too loose.

kinda funny this was brough up... i replace the spur gear on my rusty yesterday and when i fired her up my nut was a bit loose.. at first i thought i was just spinning my tires and had a CRAP load more power (with anacondas on the rear) then i realized it was jsut the clutch spinning so i gave it another turn and a half and it was all good!

how can you tell if its too tight or too loose?
what will the car do if it is too tight or too loose?

well theres not an easy way to tell if its too tight....I would just start loose and make small increments. If its too loose it`ll revv up the eng. but wont go much. well you dont want breakneck acceleration...so tighten it till it doesnt slip and then back it off maybe 1/4 turn.

That is not smart. The slipper has more functions then just protecting the spur gear. You can also adjust it so that you will get less spin out and more traction on the track. If your tires are spinning out then you have less control.

Also, with a metal spur gear, you can eat the bell pinion gear if the slipper is too tight. I ate 2 of them when the nylon washer in the locknut wore out and tightened on its own. Not only did I eat 2 Bell pinion gears, but I tore up the slots in the wheels that the pin sets in and had to get new wheels.

basherjordan: It all depends on how you are tuning it. You don't want it too tight because this takes the stress off the rest of the drive train. Also you can loosen it to get less spin out for better traction on the track. you don't want it too loose or it will spin and not put full power to the wheels and you will loose tourq and speed. Just play with it till its right.

For instance. I have a .18 on my RC10GT and its got mega power. So much so that in half throttle in a cruise I can throttle it all the way and it will wheelie like crazy, not to mention it will almost jump in the air of the start. This is no good for control on the track. So i loosen the slipper until I can full throttle and the wheels will just barely stay down. and down enough to still have steering grip on the front tires with out loosing power I don't need too.

its all tuning for what you want to achieve. If you want to do wheelies like crazy and spin out like nuts, then you want to tighten it up a lot. But it should still be just loose enough to take some of the stress off the drive train if need be.
