Im in the market for yet another truck. I already have 2 savages, a MGT, a truggy and now looking at either the Aftershock,LST or LST2. I know the LST2 is the best MT that Losi has but I cant quite swing the price of the lst2. Is the LST the same as the aftershock? If not then which one is better. I will be taking out the stock engine and installing a LRP so I need it to hold up to the power and also installing different lighter tires. How strong is the drivetrain of the aftershock? So far the MGT drivetrain has been rock solid bulletproof. The savages I have broken a couple dog bones and one diff but thats it. Will the aftershock hold up like the mgt or savages. Obviously if I can swing the LST2 I will but its pricy. Need to know the differences between the lst and aftershock.

I don't think you have to worry about drivetrain issues at all with Losi trucks.. With the Aftershock the issues I guess are the thinner, not-as-beefy-as-the-LST2 plastics, and not as good a pipe.. Not sure if the AS has alu diff housings like the LST2 though - I doubt it..

If you can't swing the LST2, just get the Aftershock.. People who have them seem to love them.. - I know I like my LST2 - tough as nails..

Aftershock or LST2 though, I would highly recommend 1.) the Dynamite engine-brace, 2.) the New Era roll-bar if you wanna' go big bashing(OK, not totally necessary if you're on a budget, but I really do believe it protects the truck in a lot of different ways...), and 3.) RC Raven dual-rate springs.. With those three things - and a tube of locktite for the whole drivetrain, wheel hexes, etc.., you're good to go IMO.. If that really makes the LST2 out of your price range, I think you can just get the AS with no worries.. I'm pretty sure it'll rip - especially with a Spec 3 and different pipe..

Like sugafree said, you will save money with the LST2 in the long run. You will eventually want the LST2 updade pack if you buy the Aftershock. If you cant swing for the LST2, the aftershock will do the job. I would think that the transmission would be even tougher in the aftershock, because there is not as much to go wrong. The diff casings are aluminum in the aft. The only thing I have broke chassis wise on my Aftershock/ LST2 , were a turnbuckle, and front shock shaft. The only other thing you might run in to, if you buy the Aft., is that it is harder to come accross descent hubs that will fit the stock CVD's.(The only ones I can think of are 14mm, 20mm, and 23mm; which are really dumb sizes.) You will not be dissapointed with a Losi, whichever one you choose. Keep us posted and tell us which one you chose.

I have an aftershock, and it does have the aluminum diff housings, I have jumped and bashed it and had it tumble down through my yard on several bad landings, and it has not yet broken. though I think the brakes suck. I just picked up a new brake kit from Crazy Nut Racing, and will put that on tomorrow. The engine runs perfect though it is cold blooded. I use a drill to start it. I run with bigblock21 and his T-maxxes have broken a couple times doing the same things i was doing with "the shocker". I can't say for sure but the actual LST may have a better engine, and pipe on it. The T-maxx is actually faster than my Aftershock but I am running all stock so far. Got the HT pipe but have yet to get it tested. But I like the truck.

Will the aftershock hold up to a LRP? I have one in my savage and I did upgrade some drive shafts and tore up 1 diff. Other than that it has held up well. Is the drivetrain on the aftershock strong? If not then what are the weak points. Im thinking about the aftershock and my first upgrade will be an LRp and RPM a arms. What else?
