Seriously? Thats like asking if a Ford will break down.

CHEVY all the way.

I actually don't have a problem with Dodge, I'd choose either one. Maybe the one that sells the most cars on average.

how about picking the one that
will give you a job

unless you are a mechanic that has specialized in
one brand or the other it won't matter

and really, it's more about the dealership and how it's run
than the brand of car they sell
weather they'll be around a long time

that is exactly what i want to do, i want to be a mechanic that specializes in one brand, and ive narrowed it down to these 2 brands

Then it may depend on what vehicles you like working on more. I know that changing the oil on a Honda Civic is a huge pain compared to my Corolla or Dodge Coronet, etc...

But I'm not sure if you can really "specialize" in one vehicle anymore, everything is becoming standardized really. My friend whom is a mechanic has been tossed around from Dodge to Toyota to Honda...

hahahah which company will last longer? are you serious? both companies have been around for almost 100 yrs, im sure there not gonna disappear tomorrow.

you should specialize in bmw and mercedez lol although they are both a pain to work on

or your can become a diesel mechanic. they make really good money around here.

my dad is a certified toyota, mercedez, volvo and mitsubishi mechanic

Then you should consider some formal schooling. Cars and trucks are so sophisticated nowadays that the days of just "getting a job" and learning as you go are pretty much gone. There are many mechanics out there with associates degrees and higher who are competing for the same jobs that you have no training for. I hate to be discouraging but if you have no formal training or real world experience as a mechanic then the chance of your getting something more than a porter's job at a dealership is almost nonexistant.

dodge, gm is in a rut right now, though gm has alot of hybrids, but they dont sell too many of those.

plus, dodge's engineering is advanceing, and rapidly, this means there are bugs that need working out, and if your a mechanic, there is your pay.

dodge is also alot eaiser to work on. everything on a chevy seizes up, exspecially suspension parts.

if dodge doesnt work out, you can also try volvo, their engineering is rock solid, they are easy to work on, and techs are paid a pretty penny.

but, with how the u.s econmy is going, it would do good to work for an american company to support us.

How much do you value job security? Why does the brand have to Chevy or Dodge? Why not Honda or Toyota?

I chose Dodge beacause i use to have a 1970 Dodge Challenger. Catback headers, Cold air intake, 200 shot of nos on plate. and a supercharger with 10% over drive... That thing went like a bat out of hell!

Broke the spedo cabel twice!

maybe, maybe not

as more and more mechanics get degrees it's going to become harder and harder
for someone w/o one to get a job

if it comes down to two people
one with a degree and certification(s)
and one w/o a degree and maybe no certifications

well, i know who i'd hire
especially if both candidates had roughly the same experience

He would get an apprenticeship which is also like a degree, probably far better than one as it directly shows that he has worked for a garage full time and developed all the necessary skills. Its basically the same thing as a degree but better as you learn while you work so it may only take a few months if your talented. And if hes very good at it then his employer will fill in a nice form about how great he is and he will easily get a job.
Another benefit of getting an appreticeship over going to uni/school is that he can make money while he learns rather than having to go to work at Mc Donalds everyday after his seminars.
