Some have had ok luck with the DD setup on the Blade CP and some have gone almost mad trying to keep the direct Drive GWS motors even spinning. There was some experimentation by a lot of the members of the Wheeeee thread early in 2007 with mixed results. Its a carp shoot and been so long I forget who succeeded and who failed. I blew the vertical fin off of the mount supplied with mine on the first spoolup so went back to the stock setup.
I have found that the Blade CP is one tough heli to master but if you can fly a CP in its stock form, You can fly anything. I even went so far as to order a complete CNC head for one of mine and it actually flew beautifully until i drove it into the ground sideways from 60' up. The little tail motors are tough to keep running and a breakin before installing will help its life tremendously. Should be a sticky still on brushed motor breakin by mrasmm in the main electric heli page just under the sub forums for the different brands of helis. LOOK HERE and give it a read.
If you are still wanting to do the DD setup go to the wheeeeeeeeeeee thread and search the thread for it there. We had a good 3 week discussion going on about which motors worked, how to set them up and where to get them. Sorry but I am just too lazy to go search it. Ok...........I lied.........start on about page 85 of the wheeeeeeeeeeeeee.....blade cp thread and that is where the mayhem started. The thread was pretty busy then so I am guessing at least 15 pages worth to get the whole story. Good luck with that!

99 GT, Arrow,

I am very curious how the new CPP2's tail will work on a CP/CPP...it is going to be a DD tail, and from Eflite.

I guess time will tell, I wonder if that is what the delay on the CPP 2 might be...working out last minute issues with the DD tail?

For those not keeping track, the CPP 2 was due at the end of June, the latest I have heard now is the end of July...

Glenn

The cpp2 is exactly what I was thinking of when I posted this, I have a blade cp and was my first heli ever, only flew an old dave brown sim about 10 years ago and thats it, I love the cp just wish it didn't need as much "maintenance" I haven't destroyed anything with it or on it yet, worst things is broken blades and bent shafts and my second tail motor just went out.

I will keep this one flying but if the blade cpp2 is going to be more reliable I'm gonna get one, love the size can throw it in the car and go anywhere with it easily..

I've had the direct drive tail on mine for the lifespan of three of the main motors. I just followed the directions on the blade cp repair website and haven't had any problems.
