hey guys!!! just got a vapor and have a question for yea when flying outside {no winds} i climb high full throttle make a dive and pull back and it dives straight into the ground it wont pull out i dont get it the plane does not seem to like full throttle much but at slow speeds it is a blast. first flight out rudder film fell off the metal . has anyone made any changes to the film covering... thanx mike

There are alot of guys including myself doing dives at full throttle and pulling back on the elevator and doing loops with no problem.
There must be something wrong. Check for binding, have you lubed the linear servos? I have learned to also put a drop of lube where the elevator and rudder linkage go through the uprights for the wing support.

You can just use some scotch tape to repair it.

I actually broke my rudder trying to fly it inside a small room. I took what was left of the CF rudder wire and made a new (slightly smaller) rudder by just bending it in a loop and CA gluing it. Then I just used clear packing tape to replace the covering.

pkh, nice repair. How does she fly?

Mike, I use Trinity bearing oil. But any type of thin lube will work. like 3 in 1 oil.
Put a little back pressure on the rudder when using the stick and see if there is a problem.

She flies nicely after the repair, but she's not as pretty as she used to be! I've flown her like this for the past month or so. I have a new rudder on the way, more for looks than anything else. Here's some photos of my quick & dirty rudder rebuild:

hey, if it works it works, right? I bet that tape added a little weight to the tale.

Hey newbie here, just picked up vapor, and other than a problem with the battery connector, the only problem i have is the motor cutting out towards end of battery. It will be climbing fine, and then motor stops, but i still have rudder and elevator control. i then wait a second, and give it power again and it works. Any ideas?
Thanks

Welcome Svance,
No ideas,
just facts. The problem is just what you said. The battery is running out and needs to be recharged. End of story

Good to hear i was hoping that was all! Thanks, I've been having a blast so far, like i said the only other problem is one of my batteries connector is loose, which makes it difficult to connect to the charger and vapor, but not impossible. It just gives in towards the top where the two tabs are, and pushes back into itself.
Thanks for the quick reply Wheelnut

Sounds like it's just hitting the LVC (low voltage cutoff) for the ESC/motor, which is typical when you're at the end of the battery charge.

Gang, word of warning about the battery.

After flying the Vapor the other day I left the battery connected to the plane afterwards.
A few days later when I went to charge the battery I found it to be dead. It wont charge any more.
Hopefully I wont make that mistake again. Gotta make sure you unplug it after flying.

my vapor glitches pretty badly, the elevator servo twitches back and forth a considerable amount. The glitching is ruining the plane. The antenna broke off after the glitching became bad, which was two weeks or so after i purchased it. It always twitched, just not to this extent. I replaced the antenna with a copper wire, but the glitching is the same; terrible.

Hi all,

Been having a great time flying my Vapor. The other day, however, I broke the rudder off . Well I ordered a new one and received it yesterday. The replacement came with a few small parts I cannot identify or understant what holds the rudder pin in place.
Anyone have any ideas how it all goes together?

Jim

I believe there is a small rubber ring (small piece of silicone rubber tubing) that holds it in. I broke my rudder off and just reglued the remaining portion of the CF wire into a loop to form a new rudder (a slightly smaller one, of course). I just put a small piece of tape at the bottom to keep it from sliding out.

Thanks Paul,

I wish they would have an assembly diagram in the manual. The parts that came with the rudder do not stay on the cf pin, the id is too large. Guess I will try a small piece of silicone tubing.

I'll correct that statement, from the looks of this photo, it was actually a plastic fitting on the bottom, probably has to be CA glued to the bottom to hold it in. Just be careful not to get any CA in the "hinge" portion above.

Do you think the length of the replacement antenna is important?

I do,

Assuming that the antenna is 1/4 wavelength, the foumula for antenna length is:

246 / frequency in mHz = length of 1/4 wave in feet

so

246 / 2400 = 0.1025 ft = 1.23 inches.

I am sure the antenna does not have to be this exact length, but being close would be good.

I do have my doubts as to antenna length causing glitching problems.

I have a question.

I am trying to remove the motor assembly from the front of the bird to replace the landing gear. It appears the motor mount is super glued to the main spar. I know that acetone will dissolve super glue but I am afraid the it will also damage the plastic components. Any susgestions?

I had the same problem when trying to replace the landing gear. LHS suggested using debonder to disolve the CA.

DON'T DO IT.

The debonder they recommended melted the plastic motor mount and deteriorated the carbon fiber. I ended up having to replace the motor mount and cut the carbon fiber main rod about 3/8 inch shorter to get rid of deteriorated portion. It still flies like a dream though. I don't have a suggestion to release the motor mount from the main carbon fiber shaft, but can tell you with certainty that debonder is not the answer.

I ended up just cutting the landing gear from the spar. The new one just slid on and I used a lettle hot melt glue to hold it in place. Easy to remove if I have to.

Check out these 130mah lipos I found on ebay. Not bad for the price.
I was wondering if this E-Flite lipo will work in the Vapor? http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=EFLB1101S

I was think of buying this plug and putting somew banana plugs on it and charging the lipos with my Trinton Jr. charger.
Has anyone tryed this before? Is there any way to charge with out the stock charger?

I use both the eflite battery from my mcx and the 130mah battery in my vapor with no problems. With the 130mah battery I can fly the vapor for almost 30 mins.
