Anyone had any experience with the Tetra one-way valve? I thought I'd post my experience, to see if anyone else has had the same.

YS .63 FZ-s. Maybe 1/2 Cooper's 30%. New YS plug. Was running fine, until the prop decided to try to eat the fuel lines. This threw the one-way valve somewhere out of my line of sight, so I had to put another valve in. All that I had was a Tetra unit. I could not get the engine to run correctly. Loaded up and found the original one-way valve. The next time to fly, I re-installed the original unit and the engine was back to it's reliable self. So my conclusion is this.......throw away the Tetra units and use the YS units. Anyone else had any good, bad or otherwise experience with the Tetra one-way valve?

I've never heard of anyone having luck with anything but the YS one way valve myself included. I dropped a YS valve out at the field and couldn't find it so I grabbed a one way valve I had in flight box (it was red and white) and my always reliable 63 turned into a nightmare and almost cost me a plane. I put a YS valve in when I got home and all was fine after that.

Lesson learned. I always have a spare YS valve in my field box.

The problem with the Tetra is it is mainly designed to prevent liquid backflow. While air bahaves as a fluid, it is not dense enough to force the metal ball back to close off the valve quick enough for YS purposes. The YS valve uses a small silicone flap to prevent backflow, which responds equally well to liquid or air. Stick with the YS valve for al YS engines which require tank pressure to force the flow of fuel.

You're right. I just checked. I was thinking the the YS valves had the ball in them. No more "off brand" one-way valves for me.

You only use the Tetra on petrol engines, keep the YS ones for YS.

Since you are in Malaysia check with whom you are getting the engine from just for the sake of getting it quickly. If the shop you are dealing with sells a lot of YS engines they will likely have spares or be able to order them for you.

Toss the Tettra. The YS valve is the only one to use.
