When is it necessary to mess with the low speed needles or idle needles? I've never messed with them. Only the High speed needle and I got my savage running quite well, but I don't know if I'm missing out on power, or putting uneeded stress or heat on my f4.6 engine. thanks for the help!

You are probably missing a lot of low end snap. No damage to be done though, a little rich on the low speed will not hurt it. I will bet after a high speed run, your truck cools off in a hurry! When you reset the low speed needle, you will probably have to slow the idle down a little too. BB

haha. I think he meant that it comes rich from factory. but go ahead and richen it. and lean the high speed out a hair and set the idle a little higher.

Hpi video that you should watch! It is one of the best tuning videos out there. A rich low end will kill your off line acceleration. It was also bring you engine temperatures down quickly when it returns to idle as it pumps fuel into the chamber faster than the engine can burn it. BB

Oh thanks man that helps alot. i didnt know high speed needle adjusts the top end and low speed needle adjusts the low end. as obvious as it is....lol . so if i lean it out a lil bit on the low end my acceleration will be alot higher?

If you go too far your engine will stall instead of accelerating. That is a dangerous condition. You will know when you are getting too lean as the engine will run on or be slow to come back to an idle.

You will see a huge difference in acceleration off idle if your truck is still at the rich factory settings, enormous difference, it will not be the same truck....
