have a very old AC/DC MRC battery pack charger. This charger just has a timer and a meter. I know when i bought this years ago most guys had to manually peak their packs with a meter. Does anyone know the procedure i would like to use this charger for a few weeks until i can replace it. Thanks and i dont want to harm my new battery packs. I have a 1600mah and a 3000 mah 7.2v packs.

As always thanks

Is the meter to adjust the charge amperage? If it is, set it at 5 amps. That should be an okay amount for both packs. Connect a pack to the charger, and set the timer for the max amount of time. Since I can't give you an exact time to charge each pack, you will have to watch them and wait for them to reach an appropriate temperature. Wait until the pack feels slightly warmer than room temperature and disconnect it when it reaches this point. Around 110 degrees Fahrenheit is probably a safe temperature. Basically just charge the pack until it feels warm to the touch. Don't let it get hot. This is what will damage the battery cells. I hope this helps.

If it's timed, it most likely will not charge the 3000 mah nimh. I don't think I've ever seen one that does anyway....
