well, our LHS has a 1/18th on-road course that they race every Sunday and i decided to get in on the fun. I picked up a new 18R along with a few upgrades for a decent price. I just need your advice on what else to get. The ONLY thing that can/has to be stock is the motor.....so here she is.

upgrades so far are:
Novak ESC
SR3000 receiver
foam tires
RPM front bumper
batteries were built by a friend and i
Factory Team battery brace
gold rear springs

here's some upgrades i was thinking about:
hi-tech steering servo
carbon chassis
aluminum c-hubs

let me know what you guys think!!

i saw that Chassis, i might possibly get it or have my buddy pick it up so we can test it out. We have a vinyl cutting machine and we've been painting bodies left and right now since we can do perfect vinyl masks

sweet paint job! I would recommend along with that HiTech HS-65mg steering servo a DP steering draglink for sure, and if you plan on driving this outside a DP gear cover is nice also..

that Hi-Tech is the one i want, but i have the DP gear cover on order, as well as a Novak cooling fan and Factory Team rear shock bodies. I need to get a smaller receiver and a transponder tomorrow when i go race, hopefully my other stuff is there as well

well, i got my Micro Deans connectors today, just have to solder them on this week. I raced today also, but i notice that the stock steering servo is garbage, i'm gonna try to upgrade to the Hi-Tech this tuesday.

the best upgrade you can make is to post more pics of the girly in your bed! other than that, you can use standard size deans, thats what i do. does the 18r have the aluminum outdrives? the plastic ones are junk.

Get the Exotek R18 conversion since you are running on-road.

I would steer clear of alloy stuff except for c-hubs and steering knuckles. those are nice in alloy but the rest of the stuff I have tried just makes the car heavier and it bends, gets nicked up easily and then looks bad.. not to mention it's expensive also.. real useful upgrades on my car were alloy c-hubs + steering knuckles, teflon bearing kit, MIP CVDs all the way around (with a stock motor, you won't need that, but they are nice none the less), DP draglink, gear cover.. delrin 55t spur.. hitec hs-65mg servo.. AE titanium turnbuckle kit.. 3racing 5 spoke wheel/tire set.. 3racing shocks (the BEST shocks for all rc18 series imo). I think that's a good list.

edit: and make sure you keep those diffs adjusted well.. they will last you a long time. about 1/4 turn off full tight seems to be a good setting.
