What's the chances of getting the results from the Club 40 Race held at HCAM in Austin posted here? A great race despite being hotter than you know what, excellant job by HCAM and their members who were out to help.

Thanks, EH!

Jeff and Stan are getting the results together in a format we can post. Results will be up soon.

It was a Great race with lots of action and VERY close finishes!

4 rounds of 6 heats per round and 5 mains (A thry E)

IIRC, Gary Fisher was 1st, Mike Walther (Houston) 2nd and "Fast" Eddie Flesher 3rd.
Freddy French had fast time 1:27 and change IIRC.

24 pilots braved the high winds, and I believe there were 5 planes lost during the race. 4 in the 2 mid airs and one fell victim to the huge wind roller around pylon 1.

More to follow. Any one that took pictures, please post them!

Chuck

That was a good one!

As Chuck W. said, lots of action, carnage and very close calls several times. A couple of time I was within inches of the other plane, but with the fine flying skills of the pilots in the heats I was in, we survived! Unfortunately, not all did. (Chuck... shields or anti-aircraft guns? )

Besides, I got to take home one of the coasters I made! (3rd place - Advanced)

Look forward to racing again at CLAMS! (Can't make Prop Busters)

Later!

Ha!! I think forward firing guns would have been best in my instance!!! Hard to believe after 3 years that we still have a pilot that cannot even fly the correct direction on the course!!! Well, enough of that.

Sorry I got the order wrong Chuck and congrats on 3rd place!

Actually, as close as the racing was and with the high winds, I am surprised we did not have more crashes. As I recall, we lost 5 planes. I am certain that there were at least 15 or so "love taps".

Poor Brian (and Freddy). They were "wing to wing" for 5 laps before I called a turn a little quick. I did not see that the planes were at EXACTLY the same altitude!

Little Brian will be a "force to be reconed with" very soon!

Hope to see every one at the next race. Propbusters on Aug. 9th!

And to any that have forgotten - a big thanks to Chuck Esh (Sonaloma Laser) for the very nice coasters we hand out as prizes!!

Chuck

Gary,
It was such a blur, I am not even sure who hit who!
Does not matter, they were so tight around the pins you could not have driven a straight pin between them!!
I'm just sorry it took out two very fast planes and two great competitors!
