I have yet to start with the project, but I already have the recoil unit and DBC/DBU which I plan to put into an HL Panzer IV, whose turret is more or less the same as a Panzer III.
I have fit the unit into the upper turret just to show you the clearance you have under the commander cupola, which in my opinion is enough to fit the apple connector and its wires. To make things easier, I suggest you fit the connector on a 5mm plastic plate as I did on my Pz III (without recoil unit, but with the airsoft gun and elevation). That way you won't have to bend the connector pins too much for the wires to run around the recoil unit.
As for the gun flash, I think I will keep the existing wires, since as far as I have understood, the gun flash works differently than the DBC/DBU one (which is soldered to the main board). The recoil unit one has its own microswitch.

Here is the pic:

971wright has the DBCRC2 Heng long and on that unit you can install the cannon flash to the DBC board so I think you will have a choice of which ever one you want!

Hi Borealis Thanks for reply and photo it looks a tight fit but the 5mm plate idea sounds good not only will it help with the plug but it will strengthen it ,wasnt sure if it was posible to do it but if it will go in the panzer3 and 4 then the Tiger should be o.k. I was thinking of using the storage boxes to fit the apple if it wouldnt fit in the hatch .

Maybe this is a good time to announce that I am officially selling the assembled new DBCRC2 HL form Darkith (This unit allows you to use most high end radios with all ground frequencies)

Asembled by RCTankWars.com this is the system that Pete has and I will have built out units ready for sale by the end of the month! See pictures below one picture the DBU cable is not shown but it is a good close up, you can get it cheaper un assembled from David, but if you don't want to haslte with the wire harness and the making your own apple, loading the sounds on the sound card, give me an e-mail!

Thanks the Blitz
