Ok, here it is. I have a Airboat with a Saito 91 four stroke on it, and I love it, but the oppertunity presented itself to build another one. My boat is built around a motor and I knew exctually which one I wanted to use, an O.S Max ff-320. My only problem is a prop. Im only going to have a maximum of 14 inches of clearence in the cage. So my question is is there anybody that makes custom props? Im going to need something with all kinds of pitch to get good prop wash and really harness full power from the motor. I had seen a Cajun Gator with a wood prop that looked like a real airboat prop and I would like something like that or maybe an alumium hub with adjustable composite or carbon fiber blades. Any help would be great! Included is a picture of my current boat.

Hold on tiger, the wood prop was only for the pic. I have tested the wood props, with results of lasting just a few minutes.
best bet would to rework the cage and stand to get more clearance. You may beable to spin the 14x7 3-blade.

By the way, good looking boat, just add in a swim float or some other type of flotation.

Don't really run water, it's really fast and it gets to porposeing. I have been meaning to add a trim tab to the back to stop it. If it's anything like a real airboat that's how to stop it. It is a blast in skinny water though, I could fill the nose up with spray foam. Every bit would help.

Caylen17, I live in Port St. John, which I am sure you know is just south of "T"ville. I have been playing around with airboats(rc) for years and would be interested in talking airboats and getting together to run them. I have an older fiberglass hull w/ an O.S.61 helicopter engine on it. It needs a new cage right now cause a friend and I got carried away one day and were doing jumps. Very long and high jumps. Hence I need a new cage. Please contact me at: dlapalme@cfl.rr.com. About that O.S.FF 320. WOW. I have wanted to try that myself but too many dollars for the way I drive. With that much engine, you may need a bigger boat.

Hi! Bayward. What airboat/s are you running? I just left Cajun Gator airboats site. Nice boats. Looks like they run strong too.

At this time I am not running any airboats. I currently fly airplanes and helicopters. I am reading this forum and others to gain knowledge as I want to build an airboat, a swamp buggy of the type used in the Everglades.

When I first started poking around I was looking for an airboat kit then plans. The swamp buggy must be a very small niche of RC'ing as I found very little information and no kits. I have access to a complete fiberglass shop so will most likely make the hull of fiberglass. Thing is, it is so much work making a plug or model then the mold then the final piece, I want to make sure my design is sound before I start. I am leaning towards a .60 to .90 size nitro engine. Maybe even a Saito four stroke of equivalent size. The design of the hull will most likely mimick one of the commercial made full scale airboats. I will go to a dealer and take pictures and measurements. I will not try to build true scale, rather semi or sport scale. Real scale building is way more work than I care to do for something that I plan on banging around ponds and small lakes with.
