Well. This problem started when my stock steering servo blew out and i switched to the hs 65mg. Then i put the dp drag link in it.

The stering now is terrible. When i turn left it will turn only a little bit. And it wont recenter at all. It happens for both ways. But it turns to the left better than to the right.

I made a video. Its with the dp link removed. And just the hs65.

You can see me steer it and how it doesnt turn back.

i have just that special edition drag link thing and i dont like my steering very much..
the little holes where the ball stubs go in ware out and the it creates slop and then the wheels dont re-center after a while...
owell

you need to bore out the holes and/or shave the inside of the back "lip" sometimes on the draglink so that the parts are not rubbing too hard because that will make the steering stick and not re-center... also, make sure the middle of the draglink is not hitting the upper-deck.. that happened on my 18r and I needed to file the top of the draglink down.. when properly fitted the draglink is awesome.. but it does require some fussing with to get it all dialed in.. it's not a "plug and play" component I have found.

edit: from the videos it looks like you may have overtightened your kingpins (the screw wit the smooth part which holds the steering knuckle to the c-hub).. I did that and had the EXACT same problem.. you might need to get new steering knuckles also if the kingpin threads on them are worn out too much so that you need to torque them down to get them to stay in.. the proper adjustment on them should be tight enoght to stay in and keep slop out of the steering knuckles but not binding the steering knuckles.. they should be free to turn easily. some blue locktite is a good idea there so you don't have to torque them down too hard and they will stay put.. but you'll want to let it "set" for like 12 hours..

+1 to peelin out

I took my car apart and when I put it back together I tightened them down to much and the wheels where hard to move. I backed the screw out maybe a half turn and the wheels where great. I watched the video and thats what it looks like to me. I have the same setup and it made my steering phenominal.

ok, np... if you take your front wheels off, there are two screws which you can get to, they are on the top and bottom of the C-hub, that's what the steering knuckle attaches to... the steering knuckle has the bearings and drive axle in it.. that's the part that actually turns with your wheels when you steer. the two screws that hold that to the other part of the car are the kingpins. try and backing them out a 1/4 or 1/2 turn.. see if that loosens things up.

ok i think i almost got it now .!!!!! but the only problem now is it wont recenter. i have realized that there is is a stiffer metal spring in the pack then the one i was using. so i put that on and i put the drag link back on!!!! so i think i have narrowed it down to the servo saver. ok the servo recenters but the wheels do not. witch i thought was wired. so again what do you think it could be!!!! please help i really want to get this thing running again!!!!

well, I tried those metal saver c-springs and didn't like them because they lost their shape fast, and I had a re-center issue.. they are pretty stiff, but something about the plastic to metal rubbing didn't allow the steering lobe to center up after turning.. so I went back to a plastic c-spring with a metal sleeve around that and that did the trick for me.. I can't find it on ebay any more, but you get them with some alloy bellcrank steering upgrades for the rc18.. anyways, the combo of the plastic c-spring and that metal "jacket" around it allowed the steering lobe to re-center each time.. you might just try a plastic c-spring again just to see if your steering re-centers better, then you've found the issue.. some people cut parts of shock springs and put those around the plastic c-spring to stiffen it up.. you could try that.

http://www.myrcbox.com/rc18t_tighter%20servo%20saver.htm

that will blow the stock servo out fast, but the hs-65mg should old up well.

^ great link, never thought of it, i hear you can also use an 0-ring but whatever, an o-ring can slip... yep, the HS-65 can stand a direct drive (not the best idea for in a crash.....) but they are tough little guys
