Jose, what defect did your landing gear have?
I have an original set as well, but it seems to be ok.

Thanks,

David

josecilurzo I can tell you that if you have more than 1mm either direction 2mm total. you can get in trouble with the rudder. And If the POST comes out of the rudder, it will remain on one side of the post resulting in a SPIN into the earth, when you slow down and drop your landing gear. Trust me. Your rudder has to be PERFECT/ My problem came with NO downhill run. just simply straight and level flight. if it flutters, You are better off having it separate at the henge line than hanging upon the post. However it is best flying R/C model I have ever had.

Jose, mine hasn't flown..........waiting on a Jet Central Rabbit!

My rudder seems to work fine on the ground. My rudder post seats considerably deep inside the rudder base. I get about 1/3" throw total each side. On my Tamjets F-16, the linkeage is similar but on my particular model is not setup as good as on my JL. I have not had an issue yet inflight.

However...... ........on JL kit the Aluminum rudder servo mount is weak and I could see it bowing in flight, moving the servo down and loosening the post off of the rudder base. This would lead to what Dr Doom is describing. Scary!

I'll give it a try the way it is and keep a pretty close eye on it.

David

After the original flutter, I made a new post out of a 3mm bolt and extended it into the rudder about 3/4 of an inch. I would have been better off it I had lost it. By all means you have to use a servo with metal gears Metal arm, or it will twist and you will loose it. The second time It had too much slop and it wasn't much. we got it slowed down and the pin stayed in the rudder and we landed it without incident. No one their could believe that the fuse stayed together with the resulting violence.

drdoom,

Approximately one month ago, a flyer reported having a similar issue with the rudder on the 1/6 scale Falcon. Was your plane the 1/8 or 1/6 scale Falcon?

I read a thread here about a 1/6 scale SM f-16 losing the entire rudder and fin. and made a successful landing. Mine is 1/8 scale JL.

Good luck on your flight and please let us know how it went. I am waiting to get an updated ECU for the AMT 400 that is my JL 1/6 scale F-16. Previously thought the plane was ready to fly at Kentucky Jets, unfortunately had a few problems and could not get maiden flight done before the event started. I did have a great time flying my FB MB339.
