Hi guys,

I got my hands on a complimentary quart of Mobil Jet Oil II. Is this oil adequate? It says it meets 23699, but not to the latest revision. It may be Mobil is just lazy to revise their packaging. I also have some Aeroshell 500 on the way, but I figure I'd not let this quart go to waste.

My turbine is a Wren.

Thanks.

Used it for years on AMT,Ram,and Jet Cat engines.Never had a problem with bearings or clogged injectors.Just don't inhale the toxic exhaust fumes or let your skin absorb the oil.Not recommended.

Revision F of MIL-PRF-23699 adds a C/I (corrosion preventative) specification for qualification to MIL-PRF-23699.
This revision has nothing to do with lubrication qualities, low/high temperature limits, etc.

Any oil qualified to MIL-PRF-23699 (any revision letter) is acceptable for use in our engines.

Mobil Jet II is the best oil-The only oil Team Motors & Rotors use.

It stays mixed with our fuels better and has a high spec than many other oils.

Thanks for the response everyone, as well as the comforting affirmation from Wren.

BTW, I've always wondered why there isn't a Wren Turbines dedicated forum in the Turbine Clinic section?

Do you guys have a better ideas for opening and storing the oil? We definitely don't need to use a full quart at a time, so do you guys store your oil? If so, in what container? Also, do you use the jab-in spouts like in the oldens days? Or just two punctures and let the oil glug out?

I have 2 5 gal kero containers, this allaows me to always use a full quart to 4.75 gals kero, all my turbines same mix. Using two containers I can always have one of the two empty.
